Hunan Town — Restaurant in Southfield

Been trying to find a Chinese take-out restaurant in Metro Detroit for years after changing jobs. China Village in Bloomfield Hills was my go to and favorite, but always so far away.

Was about to give up until I found this place near my work and saw amazing reviews before the owners retired (they came out of retirement apparently very recently).

The Genera Tso's is amazing and the chicken is juicy. It reminds me a lot of China Villge's recipe. The chicken chunks are large and the sauce a little spicy and sweet.

The egg rolls were also not a disappointment. Perhaps not the best, but we've all had those pointless egg rolls. The size is fairly big as well. No complaints for the fried rice either.

Not sure why the reviews are so high. My experience wasn’t the best the food didn’t have a lot of flavor. Didn’t taste like Chinese food excerpt for the shrimp egg roll was pretty good. The sweet and sour chicken was bland the sauce didn’t taste like anything. The sesame chicken and orange chicken weren’t nasty but they didn’t have enough sauce. They told us 20 minutes we waited over 40. Probably some of the most bland Chinese I’ve ever encountered. The lady over the phone was nice seems like maybe a off day for them she almost forgot to have my husband pay. Maybe I’ll try again and see if it’s any better but with a small order not with $40...

First off I wanted to start out by saying the lady at the front was the absolute nicest person I’ve ever dealt with at a Chinese restaurant. The portions are huge, the rice and egg roll prettt good but I got the almond boneless chicken and did not like it one bit. The chicken was way too chewy and the breeding wasn’t flavorful and just fell off the chicken as soon as I picked it up. I might go again and try something else theee since they were so nice but I’m a little disappointed I just spent 10 bucks on rice basically
