It was my first time at Mr Joe’s and although I observed many issues (Cob-wells in the Foyer at the front door; Given a dirty glass with lip gloss on it with hot water and lemon; Cold sweet potato fries), I did not complain and paid for the subpar meal, so I could hang out with friends!
Oh, the cole slaw, fish and chips were good, however, 2/5 guests at our table were having a problem with “Stale Nacho Chips!”
Have you ever heard of a customer telling a waitress that her meal is not satisfactory after the first bite and being told “the nachos are made fresh,” walks away and still plans to charge for the unwanted meal?
Meanwhile, the Bartender who pretends to be the manager agrees that the customer should not have to pay for something the customer dislikes.
Unfortunately, the waitress disagrees with the customer’s right NOT to be charged for a subpar meal, and tells the customer they have to order a substituted meal at the same price or they will be charged for the unwanted nacho meal!
After being bullied, the customer picks another meal but the waitress just tosses it onto the table. Subsequently, the substituted meal was not eaten because it was not served with kindness!
In conclusion, my friend, who was hungry did not eat in a party of 5, and another member at our table paid for the second meal and gave a very good tip to the waitress!
No one was trying to get out of paying for their meal!
The teachable moment is that making customers pay for something they do not like or eat is not right and is a form of bullying!
Lastly, it is unprofessional or not compassionate when you your concern for your tip outweigh your customer service!
Treat Customers well and your tips will automatically increase! Selah (Pause and Think About That)
Thanks to the General Manager, Cathy for seeing us as Future Valued Customers and apologizing for everything that occurred yesterday!
Excellent Managerial Customer Service in the Resolution of Our Concerns.. My party will definitely return, and as a matter of fact one of our 5 guests was a regular that suggested we visit Mr Joe’s.
Have A Great Week and Thanks for Listening to...
Read moreI only had a sandwich and some mozzarella sticks but those were good and other people seemed happy with their meals - but mostly here to say the atmosphere / service at this place is unmatched. Amy & Heather who I got the opportunity to have as bartenders and servers both times I came (and they’re sisters! How fun) both went beyond the call of normal service. This place was the closest nearby spot to an emergency vet I took my dog to after an attack. I was obviously a bit solemn when I came in the first time for lunch and immediately they asked me if I was okay and both came around the bar to hug me when tears started welling and listened to my story and showed so much care and compassion for my poor doggy. When I came back a week later they recognized me IMMEDIATELY and asked how my boy was doing and were overjoyed when I said he’s healing well and getting stitched up today. I also wanted to come back to get their names just so I could be sure to mention them by name in a review because they certainly deserve it.
Outside of that, clearly they (and the rest of the staff here) have compassion and familiarity with mostly everyone who walked in the door. They impressively remembered names, usual orders, and asked specific questions about peoples’ lives (and I was sitting at the bar for a long time while I waited for my dog both times and got to witness LOTS of interactions) - all were overwhelmingly positive. I love love LOVE this place. I live in Detroit and rarely come to the suburbs unless I need to - but I might have to start making Mr. Joe’s a regular...
Read moreI had a very bad experience yesterday. I think the manager thought that I was trying to get a free meal. I’m make six digits plus investment. I guess since I wasn’t well dress at the time I’m a freeloader. What really blow my mind was they had to take the food back twice. Fish was under cook and the fries was cold twice. Then my friend didn’t even eat there food because either cold or not cook. So they ask for just fries and they brought us fries they drop back in the grease which came out hard and over cook. Three sets of fries and still not right. The manager come over and say she giving a discount. Got the bill took 4.00 off. Then she charge me 5 dollars extra for onion rings but didn’t bring me the fries which should have came if you are charging for a whole order of onion. The bill wasn’t discounted but I still give my waiter a 9 dollar tip because out of 33 dollar bill. I probably won’t go back and I will be telling everyone at Detroit Diesel don’t go there.
Thanks ms manager for...
