Just visited the Southgate location that just opened and can confirm this is our new favorite middle eastern restaurant downriver. As a mom of two young boys (6y & 2y), I always worry about a few things: Is this a kid friendly place not just in menu but with the vibe in general? How long is it going to take to get my food? And Are there public restrooms and are they clean? Y’all… let me just tell you how great the experience at this place was. We were greeted with a warm “Welcome to Middle Eats” when we first walked in and given the option to either use the kiosk or order with the cashier. I ALWAYS prefer to order with a cashier (although I understand the convenience of a kiosk when you don’t have 2 kids to keep an eye on and take orders from). They were so friendly and helpful since I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted. The boys loved the pictures on the menu and had excitement overload over the drink options. We opted for some blue raspberry kool-aid (or I think kool-aid?). Everyone was so kind and seemed to enjoy chatting with my 6 yr old who loves meeting new people. We sat down and within 5-10 minutes the food was brought to our table. They came to check on us a few times to make sure we had everything we needed (we eventually got a ‘to-go’ bag). The food was so yummy - the boys had the loaded shawarma fries which were amazing! The fries were surprisingly hot and super crispy. They were clearly fresh out of the fryer. My chicken shawarma wrap was so good. The amount of chicken in the wrap was way more than expected with lots of fresh veggies. Aaannnndddd….the bathrooms were surprisingly clean. No weird smells or mysterious stains. Just a decent bathroom with a sink that had hot water and a soap dispenser that was full. Thank goodness!
Lastly, with young kids, I always try to clean up the table and any rouge fries/food pieces on the floor. I hate leaving a mess. I didn’t see any napkins sitting out so I asked if I could get some napkins to clean up the table. The guy just smiled and told me not to worry about it and they would take care of it. It was around 6 and likely their dinner rush soon. As I went to leave, hand on the door handle, someone was already cleaning the table! I felt instantly relieved!
It’s not often that we leave a restaurant with full and happy bellies AND with my sanity intact. I will definitely be...

On Monday September 22, 2025 I walked into Middle Eats Southgate. I was greeted by the nice women up front and they patiently waited for me to make up mind.
Once I arrived home and opened my chicken and shrimp wrap I thought they had mistakenly given me chicken & steak. That is how dark my shrimp were. I only knew it was shrimp when I saw the opaque color on my 2nd shrimp.
I said, "Well maybe that's just the seasoning" but nope, when I tasted the shrimp it was rubbery from being overcooked.
I don't think I will return to this location. I was really disappointed. I was working remotely that day so I didn't have the time to return the wrap and maybe get a new one. I ate what I could stomach and the rest went in the trash.
I would have never served anyone that shrimp. I would have trashed those and started fresh.
Update: Vera, the HR manager called me the next day after reading this review. Let me tell ya'll, this woman does not play. Vera was NOT happy at all, she couldn't believe what she had seen. Vera assured me that she was going to that location the next day to find out exactly what happend, I believed her too! We had a great conversation and by the end of the call we were laughing like old friends. The customer service that I was given on the phone is the A plus customer service that I am used to when I eat at Middle Eats. Vera went above and beyond with the compensation I was given. I will be returning to Middle Eats soon. Thanks a bunch Vera! I can tell that you really do care about your customers. You handled the situation perfectly. ❤️ Customer service is very important to me & also lacking now a days with a lot of these companies but not with...

After my first visit to Middle Eats in Southgate, I was genuinely impressed and hopeful that this establishment would become a local favorite. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was nothing short of deplorable, and I will never be returning.
Despite being exceedingly clear about my order — specifically due to severe food allergies that can result in anaphylaxis — my meal was not mishandled once, but three times. This level of incompetence, especially when a person’s health is at risk, is inexcusable.
The situation was made infinitely worse by the behavior of a male employee, who, in response to a simple clarification, threw the food container onto the floor — a moment witnessed by multiple patrons. This outburst was not only shockingly rude, but also unprofessional and deeply alarming, particularly given the context of my medical dietary restrictions.
I was charged for an additional bag of pita, which was never included in my order. When I inquired about it, I was met with resistance and clear irritation, as if correcting their mistake was a burden rather than a basic obligation.
While I recognize that new businesses often face growing pains, gross negligence, hostility, and a complete disregard for customer safety are not growing pains — they are signs of poor training and a toxic internal culture. If Middle Eats intends to survive in a competitive market, it must seriously reevaluate its staff, retrain its team in basic hospitality, and learn to handle customers with even the minimum amount of respect — especially those whose health depends on accurate service.
What began as admiration has ended in utter disappointment. Proceed...
