Olive Garden Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Southgate

First time trying this place! Came here with my husband just to use a gift card we had from our anniversary and since we never tried it thought it'd be a pretty good idea 😊 didn't wait too long it was pretty busy they take your name and text you when a table is ready so you can comfortably wait in the car! I just watched my anime until it was ready! Everyone seemed nice, our server was very nice but I can't remember her name! She made sure we were stocked on their delicious bread sticks it's almost impossible not to fill up on those and save room for your food let alone dessert! My husband ordered the lasagna which he thought was amazing! I tasted it and I don't know I'm a little biased growing up my mom always made the best lasagna so I felt like theirs was just ok there wasn't anything crazy about it to be like wow this is different from any other lasagna I've had lol I order their limited time only beef strips and Alfredo it looked and sounded like it would be really good before I just kept it safe and ordered chicken Alfredo! The dish was good don't get me wrong but personally idk what they did but it just seemed too oily like a legit puddle of oil was in my dish 🤢 and that just turned me off completely I still tried to eat it but it was too much but other than it being oily the meat was super good and tender and their Alfredo sauce is 🤌🏼🔥 Soo good highly recommend any other Alfredo dishes! Oh also my husband ordered this soup I can't remember the name of it but it was the potato soup with sausage and kale omg! It was sooooo good I would order it again right now lol the atmosphere was awesome super Italiano! Played Italian music the whole time, low lighting very nice! So overall I think it was a lovely spot for lunch or dinner, I would have given 5 stars if my dish wasn't so oily! Definitely recommend if you haven't tried it yet it's worth...

Entered restaurant for an early supper Saturday, 22nd October 2022. Arrived at 5pm no wait to get a seat. our server was busy with other tables and provided bread sticks within 5 mins of seating. 5 - 10 mins later asked us our drink order, we asked for a bottle of wine. it took 10 mins to get the wine, she stated the person working the bar was slow. We got our food order in and waited another 10 mins, no cutlery or plates were provided. we heard other tables having a conversation with this server who constantly stated she has only been on the job for three days. We have been to many other Olive Garden locations over the last 30 years and have never been so disappointed. Again the server brought bread sticks tossing them on the table. A few minutes later our main course meal arrived. I asked the server if we could have our salad first. she immediately said I have only been here 3 days, I asked for our salad first and to put our pasta under a heat lamp in the kitchen. she then called the manager. the manager showed up and told her to follow our instructions. 5 mins later our salad was "dropped" at our table with server attitude. I enjoyed the salad always. Our pasta was served after the salad, but was toasted from the heat lamp. I ate it without causing a fuss. When our meal was finished nothing else was offered. we asked to pay and elected to pass on desert. While I paid on the tablet, I apologized to the server, she would not accept my apology while she prepared the remaining 1/2 bottle of wine corkage. I stated the manager is the one who should have trained you better. Our server would not listen. An hour later I fould the bottle of wine cap loose had spilled over my rear car seats. Update: 02.03.25 ~ We made a trip over to MI and decided to have something to eat and, naturally, we picked Olive Garden. Eldridge R. was our Server and he was fantastic. Super welcoming, awesome personality and a good sense of humor. He is also kind and attentive. My Spouse had Seafood Alfredo and I had Angel Hair Pasta with Meat Sauce and our meals were excellent. I tried to Bellini Peach Tea which I was not fond of and Eldridge readily replaced it with a regular ice tea. I don't think it was the tea inasmuch as I like my tea sweet and it was not sweet enough for me but my Spouse enjoyed it. It was a great meal with a great Server, Eldridge and, of course, the salad was delicious and the breadsticks were very good. I look forward to returning to this Olive Garden in the near future. Wow, we decided to drive over to Michigan, from Canada, to have dinner and I have to say that from the moment we walked into door we were greeted by two very nice and smiling young Ladies. Our Server, Gary O. was amazing!! What a GREAT personality, smile and sense of humor. Gary made sure we were very happy with our meals and he checked on us without being intrusive. Our meals were delicious but I have to say Gary made the entire dinner one of joy and smiles. I will most definitely be seeking him out next time we go and will probably call ahead to make sure he is working! I do have to say that I watched all the Staff and it was awesome to see that they all seemed to get along very well and were smiling and helping each other.
