Thai Place — Restaurant in Southgate

I have been coming to this Thai restaurant for at least going on upwards of 8 to 10 years, I used to take my family members here and it was one of our favorite places to go. Often times there is no one that can effectively communicate on the phone to take orders correctly. And many times we order the food either is incredibly spicy when you order medium spicy or is so bland it’s not worth eating. The last several orders I’ve gotten here I’ve literally thrown away. Today was the final straw. I ordered a chicken sauté, I ordered a pad Thai, and I ordered a Tom Yum soup, for the first time they did not confirm that it was the court size, even though I said the large and I was given a small size, I did not get a chicken sauté and instead I was given two patties. I also was charged a different dollar amount, $37 even even though every other time I have come, it has not been that amount. Double check the menu prices and do not trust anything that happens at this establishment. I will definitely not be eating here and will highly recommend you find another Thai business to give your money and patronage too. There is a wonderful one over off of Eureka Road that I have never had any issues at, while this one was my favorite. I’m done getting burned every other one and having such hit or miss service and food. The one woman that works there is amazing and speaks English fluently, the one that was here today, obviously could not even get through a basic order. I can’t understand that I would love to visit Japan someday and if I did, I would assimilate fully, I doubt I would speak English once while there and I would try to be as respectful to the culture as possible, and understanding that if I was trying to interface with people in that culture without being able to communicate them, that would be rude of me to expect other people to accommodate me while I am not accommodating to them. I am going to look through all of my old credit card statements because we literally ordered the same thing every single time and I got a copy of the menu today and have an old one it will be interesting to see why I was charged $37 exactly today and never was charged that before, I feel like that may be something to state. The customer service here is horrible. I placed an order over the telephone. The female who took my order gave me the time frame in which to pick up my order and hung up before I could respond. When I arrived at the restaurant I politely explained to her that she hung up while I was still trying to ask a question.. she just looked at me and quoted my total. I should have canceled the order and left but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. Once I arrived home with my order I tasted and it was a bit dry so I poured the extra brown sauce I ordered on it. The brown sauce was EXTREMELY salty. I immediately called the restaurant and politely informed the female who had previously taken my order of the situation. She became extremely quiet and just held the telephone, finally I said “hello” and she responded hold on I will get someone for you. A male who stated he was the manager came on the line. I told him my complaint and he responded “that is the way it is suppose to taste.” I told him that I had ordered this multiple times and it never tasted this way. I asked him if I could get a refund and he said no but that he would remake the food. I asked if it would be remade the same way and he said “yes”. I explained to him that I would rather have a refund which he denied me. I expressed to him that I was unhappy and would be calling the BBB he basically said he did not care “they won’t do anything.” He then stated, “I am busy and do not have time for this.” He then hung up the telephone. I have ordered food from this restaurant frequently but want it to be known that I will never do business again at this establishment. I feel angry that he was rude. I work too hard for my money to spend it with someone who is rude and disrespectful. You may want to think twice about spending your hard owned dollars here as well. I"ve eaten here a few times because it's near where I work and it's convenient but I won't be back after the awful customer service I experienced. The hostess is insanely rude. She's just a mean, off-putting person. On one occasion she was waiting on my friend and I and she was consistently short with us and unpleasant. When she dropped off our entrees she took our appetizer plate away which had our utensils on it. When we asked for replacement utensils she stormed into the back room and stormed back out and threw them on our table. She then proceeded to very angrily ask us if we needed anything else. I cannot convey to you just how uncalled for this was. It was a simple request for our waitress and she made us feel unwelcome and embarrassed. This was not an isolated incident either. I recently ordered a carry-out (against my better judgment) and she was equally unpleasant when I picked it up. She seemed to remember me, as she was absurdly fake-nice to the previous customer. She made the 30 seconds that I was forced to interact with her as uncomfortable as possible, shifting nauseatingly from the disingenuously "friendly" persona she was displaying moments before. It really leaves a bad taste in my mouth when people are nasty to me for no reason and I refuse to subject myself to such treatment again. All I can say is that she obviously doesn't have the humility or the work ethic required to be a waitress. That's her fault. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
