Mo's Wood fired Kitchen — Restaurant in Southport

I just want to give a shout out to Mo’s Wood Fired Kitchen on Long Beach Rd. I’ve been talking to the owner, Kevin, for months about catering my son’s wedding reception, and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they knocked it out of the park! All of our guests commented on how it was some of the best brisket they have ever had, the mac & cheese was to die for, the red potatoes were perfect, and the salad was fresh and absolutely beautiful.

Kevin gave me a fantastic price for feeding 50 people high-quality, delicious food. A few of my girlfriends who have had to cater wedding receptions lately were shocked at the price when I told them and said I got a terrific deal. He even included beautiful, heavy duty disposable plates, as well as napkins and utensils. A friend of mine picked it up for us, and in his words, said “it went off without a hitch.”

To me, they are kind of hidden back behind the gas station and if you don’t know they’re there, you wouldn’t know they had such delicious food here in Southport. Of course, Southport has many, many different options for great food, but in case you have never tried them, you should! The food was fantastic!!!! And did I mention that the brisket and the roasted red potatoes were gluten-free!? Perfect for our guests!!!!

They are a hidden gem! I plan to visit them at least once or twice every time I come down, which is often 😬

Even though I’ve lived in the area for years and years, like most people I find my favorite places and stick to them a lot. I hadn’t tried Mo’s ever before. I pass by it all the time and finally went to check it out when I found I had time to kill over lunch today.

There is a very nice inside seating area that’s larger than you would think. I walked in around noon and got seated right away. The place wasn’t very busy at all. This was a Wednesday.

I ordered a basic bacon cheeseburger and fries. The burger, while small in radius was thick enough to have been a double. The bacon was very thick cut as well. Great burger overall. I got fries as the side and they were fantastic.

Service was top notch. Very friendly. I asked for a to go refill and I was advised they didn’t have to go cups, but she brought me a standard refill and I was allowed to sit a little longer and enjoy without any hassle.

This place is kind of a little hidden gem really. I’ll be back to try more...

May 2024: still the very best lunch you can get in southport. This is the only place where I will actually eat the pizza crust because it is so perfect. The service is with a smile the front of house is always clean and welcoming, the staff is impeccable the food is out of this world and the salad is so fresh and delicious. Try mo's you'll be happy you did! They also have beautiful pictures on the TV in their restaurant, not the awful news.

This is the most welcoming place you can get lunch in the Southport area.

They are environmentally conscious, with healthy living plants decorating the dining room, and no single-use plastic items!
