I've been to Barry's on just a few rare occasions. I like the picadilly chips. The last time I went, I was bullied by the owner (I believe) for a medical condition I have with my skin that makes it very, very red, a diagnosis that's painful and incurable and that I am already very self-conscious about. Keep in mind that we're talking about the boss here. A 55yo+ (ish) grown man making fun of a female customer's appearance. This was not some 16-year-old teenager behind the register. It was SHOCKING.
The cashier, who I'd also never met, immediately came to my defense and got in his face about it and made him leave, and then fell all over herself apologizing to me and saying how rude and derogatory the guy is to women all the time. She even shared some of the bullying she'd experienced from him as her boss. I could not believe this was happening. I was so taken aback that I didn't make a scene or even say anything at all, except to tell the cashier that I have a medical condition I can't help, and that I couldn't believe how bad this man just made me feel.
And for what reason? No reason at all, other than to be a total jerk to a complete stranger and paying customer no less! Before driving off, the last thing the cashier said to me was, "If you ever have a daughter who needs a job, NEVER EVER let her come here." Shame on this...
Read moreBarry's is in my top five favorite places to eat! Super Cheese, Teriyaki Chicken sandwich, Crispy Chicken Salad, Salted Caramel Shakes, Grilled Cheese, Sea-burger Sandwich, FRIES, and the best fry sauce (White and Pink) you can find! My sister worked here in 1993 and it has just gotten better. The manager really cares about his customers. You can call ahead with your order and they have a call ahead part of the drive thru, or you can order when you get there, in the drive thru or the restaurant. Combo meals come with fries (the best) and a drink. They have pebbled or regular ice, (the pebbled is in a cooler by the drinking fountain) and the fry sauce is self serve if you dine in. I usually get the Teriyaki chicken sandwich. Teriyaki, cucumbers, lettuce, mayo, tomato, SO GOOD! The Chicken Salad comes with lettuce, cheese, olives, egg, tomato, Crispy chicken (or Grilled) and ranch! You can always ask for a different dressing if you prefer. Their shakes are amazing, better than sonic I might add. My husband always gets the #4. Super Cheese combo. I have never met someone that doesn't like their burgers. When my brother visits from out of state this is the FIRST place he goes, even before seeing us, his family:) Such a good place, and somewhere to make memories with the family around yummy, good...
Read moreDisappointing overall, and even more disappointing for the price. Save your money and just go to McDonald's or Burger King for similar quality.
The fries were a little soggy and tasted like plain potato. They looked good, but they were considerably under salted and looked like there was maybe a pinch of other seasonings sprinkled on, but not enough to taste.
I ordered a deluxe pastrami burger combo, and my girlfriend ordered just a cheeseburger (explicitly stated NOT in the combo) and icecream, total should have been about $18. The Indian gentleman at the register seemed annoyed to be taking our order (at 6pm), and didn't seem to understand our order. He then said "it's ready for you," gesturing at the card reader, never telling us the total. It's my own fault for not double-checking, but I paid, assuming we'd been rung up correctly, and when I asked for the receipt, he said "it comes out with the food."
Turns out he added the cheeseburger deluxe combo instead of just the burger, and the total came out to $34.
I felt like I'd been swindled, and it didn't help that the "deluxe" burgers were comparable to a whopper from Burger King.
Would have been 1-star, but the food was ready quickly, so they get...
