I took my family to go eat at the Sparks location. Black Bear diner. After sitting for about an hour and an half and telling the hostess twice that I believe she did not put me on the list correctly. She states that she had already called my name, even though I was sitting right in front of her as she called Seven other parties before mine. I was a party of five so I thought maybe some of these individuals have less guests. when a family of six and a family of five got seated before I did I finally once again attempted to say something to this individual. She stated with I’m so sorry. I’ll get your table cleaned now. When I requested to speak with the manager. The manager came out as if it was a bother to her to speak with a guest. She starts off with yes ? Questioning why she was called out and in the most condescending tone I say are you the manager? I’m so sorry you didn’t introduce yourself. You just came up to me saying yes. She states yes I am. I’m sorry the sun is in my eyes. I go to tell her the situation which she’s constantly interrupting me as I’m trying to explain to her what had happened. She would just continue in a rude tone and condescending smile, saying your tables right there it’s being cleaned your tables right there it’s been cleaned. Then saying well I don’t know what you want me to do for you. Do you want me to buy your drinks? What is it that you want? I’m not gonna stand here and argue with you. Finishing off with cutting me off as I’m trying to explain that all I want was to tell her what her hostess had done. With I will do that, so do you want your table or not? She spoke to me so rudely in front of a lot of other guest that I left crying and had to take my family to the western village. Which was a huge difference, walking in and having the managers greet you and the staff be kind. I’m a manager myself and I could never phantom to believe that an individual who is supposed to provide customer service could speak to someone in such a horrible way. I spoke to the district manager, Damon and to Kate from the Reno location about how horrible I was treated by Leona at the sparks location. I want to make sure that the word is known no one should ever feel the way that I felt in front of all of those other people because this one manager who does not deserve to be a manager, decided that she could speak to someone the way she did. I hope that you do not provide Your services to this company as they hire staff...
Read moreOur waitress was AWESOME. I can't remember her name, and I apologize. She had the best personality, great sense of humor, and was excellent at her job !!!
The food was great as always, like every Black Bear Diner is. I got so much food that I couldn't finish my breakfast. So, I got a doggie bag for my pancakes.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the rude host. I wish I got her name for I can do a formal complaint with Black Bear Diner. I would like to take this beyond the restaurant and speak with a CEO about this female who was the host and down right RUDE. I was visiting from the Bay Area and I had breakfast with some friends at Black Bear Diner. We sat in a corner booth and had an excellent breakfast and stay while we were there. We had finished eating and our waitress told us not to hurry and told us to stay as long as we wanted. We stayed probably a total of 90 minutes and paid our bill a few minutes after we were all finished eating. We paid quickly, coz my friend was trying to pick up the bill. After my wife paid we all continued to talk and chat with one another for a bit longer before we had to get on the road. As we left the building the host sad goodbye to us, but looked at us funny, and with a harsh stare. While we were outside saying goodbye to each other the host came outside with attitude and accusing us of not paying. We had the receipt and my wife showed the host this and she still gave us lip, and no APOLOGY !!! A person like this should not be greeting or working with the public. She should be in the back washing dishes. Better yet, be fired on the way she treated us !!!
This restaurant is great, it's that one individual employee that works there that makes this diner a 4 star instead of a 5. If someone from Black Bear Diner reads this and wishes to speak with me, please do contact me. I would love to follow up on getting this one person FIRED for how she treated the 5 of us !!!
We'll be back up in Sparks in September, but I don't think the we'll be eating at your Black Bear Diner. Not after the way that one individual treated us. I'll take my business elsewhere and this means you loose...
Read moreAfter giving this restaurant many tries my wife and I have decided to no longer patronize this restaurant, especially after tonight’s happenings.
This evening we order today’s specials, my wife ordering the chicken alfredo with the wait person Britt informing us that they really enjoyed it, and myself ordering the NY strip steak.
First I want to say that Britt was a great wait person. Nothing bad to say about them.
I received a cup of chicken noodle soup and it was fine. My wife then received her order of chick alfredo and I received my order of the NY strip steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans.
My mashed potatoes were great, and after having a few bites I moved onto the steak. As far as cooking it as medium, it came out properly cooked. I gave it three bites, three different attempts, and even as hungry as I was I could not eat any more of that steak. While it was cooked properly, from a food safety standpoint, I would describe the flavor and quality of meat as textured, rubbery cardboard. I informed my wife who then told me that her chicken was over cooked and rubbery.
We told Britt, our wait person, and they apologized and said a manager would be right over to talk to us. I immediately offered to pay for my soup as I had consumed it. Britt then gave us a bill for $7. So, a $7 cup of soup, about the size of a coffee cup, that is normally attached to the meal; I honestly expected it to be $3-4 but not $7. Whatever, I paid as I had eaten it. We were also informed that the manager had offered us a free pie - we declined. I collected my card after paying and left with my wife.
Not once did the manager approach us or speak to us. I don’t know who the manager is, or their name. The only thing I know is that my wife and I will not ever be returning to this restaurant again. We have given this restaurant (this specific location) multiple “tries” as we recognize that wait staff and cooks, etc., have bad days. After this evening it seems that someone is having a bad day every single...
