First I will say that the coffee is fantastic here and my husband and I have always enjoyed it and the quiches and pastries as well. However, the last time we were in I asked for a cup of ice water and the woman at the register was rude about it for reasons I still don't understand. She asked if I planned to stay and sit at one of the tables and I said not today I was taking my coffee to go, she then asked if I could buy a bottled water instead but I didn't have enough cash on me to do so (there is a credit card minimum). She got irritated and clearly did not want to "give" me water so she said she would have to charge me for the cup of tap water ($.50 cents) to which I agreed but then when she brought it over it wasn't much bigger than a shot glass and it was warm. Really? I don't agree with the practice of charging paying customers for tap water but if u must, at least give them a full size cup and treat it like a paid item and don't give them a hard time over it. The whole thing was very odd to me and just seemed disappointing at how a regular customer, who always spends decent money there, would be treated over a cup of tap water and it made me not want to continue to bring my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI started frequenting Greene's Beans when I was 14 years old (I'm 26 now) and I've never had a single bad experience with their coffee or staff.
First of all, the coffee they sell and serve is absolutely top-notch. They're what you'd think of as a bit of a hipster coffee shop, but everyone there is consistently down to Earth and friendly.
The selection of coffees from all over the world can be a bit dizzying if you're not looking for anything in particular and just want a great cup of coffee, so just ask any of the employees and they'll give you every bit of information you could want to know about anything they carry.
If in doubt, just try whatever the person behind the counter recommends and I give you a 95% chance of falling in love with whatever you decide on.
The staff were willing to put up with my obnoxious teenage self and they still seem happy to serve me when I come in these days, so they clearly have the patience of saints and enough passion for their craft to make anyone happy with what they offer.
I'll be a customer for life and I can't imagine anyone who's experienced how delicious their coffee is being willing to settle for anything less after the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery happy that we have a local coffee roaster in Sparta and love supporting them, however this place could be five stars if the inside vibe was updated. You go in expecting a fun little artisan coffee shop and roastery and instead it feels like a hoarder's garage sale from the 80's. They have WAY too much stuff just laying around everywhere for sale. With a little effort they could completely transform the inside into a hip place to hang with couches, games, mood lighting, etc. Instead it's like walking into the entrance at Cracker Barrel. I'm all for local coffee shops and will continue buying coffee here, but they're really missing out on a TON of younger business with the current state of the place. Modernize the inside a bit, organize, get rid of all the clutter, and make it inviting for people to come hang and watch...
