We are new to this neighboring area. Today, my husband and I went to this cafe for a small celebration of our anniversary. We were welcomed by a very friendly lady. We were quite excited to try out their food. But, it turned out an disappointment. I ordered an avocado croissant served with seasonal fruit which was pineapple. When I had the first bite, I figured out the pineapple tasted weirdly. After telling the staff, they had delivered a new small bowl of pineapple. First couple bites were ok. But the rest of them still tasted quite weird (weird sourness….. it tasted close to “spoiled”). We didn’t want to tell the staff again since my husband said just don’t eat it if it tasted weirdly because we didn’t wanna ruin our day and be bothered by small things like that. The avocado croissant was just ok. The amount of avocado was kind of “very little”. I would grade my order 1 out of 5. However, after we arrived our home around an hour or two, I started to have stomachache. During the period of “an hour or two”, I didn’t have anything at all. And the stomachache eased a little bit after I took some Pepto. That’s why I decided to write this comment. Restaurant providing fresh fruit is quite appreciated as a customer. However, paying more attention to the “freshness” of the fresh fruit or how to prepare fresh more carefully will be much more appreciated. Hopefully, the restaurant will pay more attention to this issue...
Read moreTook my MIL out for a special lunch date with my 2 year old daughter this past Wednesday 2/8/23 which ended at this restaurant as it has many times before. The food still remains delicious but I'm sad to say the service has gone down hill tremendously. Today we not only felt like an annoyance to our waitress (when asking for ice and an extra cup when our soup arrived) but we were also publicly ridiculed for leaving a 15% tip when the waitress very loudly responded "For 15% she spilled a little juice under the table!" This was after I turned around before leaving to apologize and let her know that my daughter dropped her juice under the table so that the next guests didn't slip. I don't know how it's acceptable for staff to treat guests in this manner. A 15% tip for a $34 meal with the service we received was fair. The ugly and unprofessional behavior from our waitress (meant to embarrass us) definitely made us decide this is a place we will not be returning to or recommending. There are plenty of other options in Sparta such as Cafe Pierrot or Cloveberry where the staff treat people...
Read moreI came here today with my daughter at 1pm (not close to close), as I remembered loving it a few years ago. They said only cash today (wasn’t a problem, I had cash.) We asked to be seated outside- the two owners? I assume seemed to be upset about something and said no sitting outside without any explanation. My 7 year old loved the town (never has been) so she just wanted to sit and there was plenty of space outside open/ as well as other people out there. Then they asked us to sit next to a table of 4 in a super cramped spot- to which I said no. Mind you- the restaurant wasn’t packed at all. 5 minutes later they let another couple sit outside? It was weird. The server was fine, food was fairly priced, and my BLT was yummy- a bit more quaint than diner food. Just everything inside looked really dirty- and not how I remember it. I think it has so much more potential. The woman who checked us out was lovely. I just don’t think I would return because on a beautiful sunny day, customers want to sit outside especially when you offer...
