We had the strangest experience at this place. (I did give it two stars because the chips and salsa were great)... Our first time here, we sit down and a young man tends to us immediately with chips and salsa and takes our order. Then he disappears and we never saw him again!! About every 10 minutes, one of two young men serving the front who were probably somewhere between the ages of 13 and 17, would run around the place all confused and like they weren't sure what they were supposed to be doing. They would run across the place with handfuls of water and then run back and then disappear for 10 minutes at a time. Customers had to constantly flag them over to remove plates from the previous customer or to ask for some chips. We saw lots of people sitting at tables with dirty plates and glasses from the previous customers that were never tended to. On three separate occurrences, we saw a young man come out with plates full of food, run around in circles or figure eights trying to figure out where the plates were supposed to go, got flustered and would just go in back with all the food again, set them down and then come out to fill some water glasses and never bring the food out again to their proper tables.. I watch a total of seven different meals get brought out to the customers and then brought back to the back room and never come out again. We were there for an hour and 20 minutes and never saw our food. There were actually two other tables of customers that were there before us that still hadn't gotten their food either. We finally got up and put $10 on the counter for the beer we had and said we can't wait anymore. As we left, the other customers who were waiting for their food looked at us and shrugged their shoulders and shook their heads in disappointment too. We looked around and half the place was just sitting there with no food on their tables. Not a single employee came out to let us know where the food was or how much longer it would be. There was no management out there and no one who looked like they were in charge. I actually counted about seven different heads in the kitchen when I peeked around so it wasn't like there was a lack of workers there. I just don't understand how this place is still in business. I understand the food might be great and I really wish I could experience that, But I don't wait an hour and 20 minutes for lunch on a Sunday afternoon no matter how good the food is. We left and went to another Mexican restaurant and were served within 10 minutes And the food was great. We will go there from now on. We actually ran into two people that were at Los habaneros when we were and they smiled and said that they walked out too. Someday maybe when they get their act together I'll try them again. But this was just ridiculous. I've never seen such worthless service in my entire life. They need to actually hire a staff that knows how to manage the front of a restaurant. The two people doing all the workout front looked like kids in middle school. I kind of felt bad for them because they clearly had no clue what they were doing and apparently there was a lot of...
Read moreLos Habaneros is an absolute gem located across the street from The Northpointe Plaza. The atmosphere is bright, clean, and has an open floor plan. I love all of the vibrant colors and the art displayed throughout the restaurant.
While we were waiting for our food, we were served fresh, warm tortilla chips with salsa. The chips and salsa were both good. The salsa was pretty mild, which is great for those who don't love the heat.
I tried the Al Pastor nachos yesterday while visiting Hop Chaos, which is in the same strip. I had to go back today and try a burrito. The burritos are very generous in size and are bursting with flavor. I ordered the Al Pastor, and my husband got the brisket. Both were so tasty! We had to take half of each one home. Yay for lunch leftovers tomorrow.
They have three sauces to choose from. They had a red sauce that certainly packed the heat, which I personally love. They had two green ones. One was a mild Verde, and the other was more like a crema. The one that was creamier had an avocado flavor to it. I liked it a lot and it paired nicely with the red sauce.
This is one of the best Mexican places that I have found in the area. If you love Mexican food like I do, I highly recommend checking it out. You will not be disappointed!! Oh, they have breakfast...

Sporting more traditional street tacos, reminiscent of what one would find at a pop up in Los Angeles, I found good flavors and bold tasting sauces, with a respectable chili based hot sauce that worked well with everything I tried.
The queso blanco surprised me with it's flavor, something often disappointing in many establishments. It was a solid hit at our table.
The horchata was stand out, with hints of what I suspect is cardamom, giving it a stronger tea profile than your typical street horchata.
The staff were friendly and accommodating for us with our three kids in tow, and service was fast.
I personally feel there is room for improvement, but the location is still quite new and the early days of a restaurant means they are often still finding their way. I expect great things from Los Habaneros, now you just have to go there and keep them busy so we can keep this...
