I was craving tacos so we hit up the local food finder group. Saw taco Tuesday offered here and $6 house margaritas. Loaded up the kids and went. I liked the vibe, the decor, the music was a touch loud but we may have been closer to a speaker. The service was great.
4 of us ordered the all you can eat tacos. My daughter ordered the kids ground beef burrito.
We first off were super bummed to see that the corn tortillas look like the boxed ones from the store. We were hoping for homemade crispy shell tacos. The first tacos the chicken was watery and the shells came to the table sodden. We decided to try the flour tortilla and that was better but again, just a cheap store tortilla. Chicken was dry on those.
The ground beef was awful. Our 10 year old daughter said it tasted like water. I wasn’t sure how that was even a response but my husband ordered a ground beef taco and he said the same thing. He said he couldn’t explain it but that she was right and it tasted like water. It was ground into a paste, it was like sand consistency, not ground beef that I’ve ever seen. It reminded me of the huge tubes of processed ground beef when I worked fast food taco johns.
Service was great, portion sizes were generous, margaritas were good but the food fell way short. Nothing of it screamed authentic so we likely...
Read moreWent in on Tuesday for all you can eat tacos. The tacos are basic, but the ingredients are flavorful and taste fresh. You can choose chicken or ground beef tacos, and I got to try both. For less than $14 after tax, it's a great price for unlimited tacos. They serve you chips and salsa, 2 tacos, plus refried beans and Mexican rice. You can then request more tacos, beans, and rice when you finish what you have. There was also a bowl of Mexican candy you could take from near the door, which I've never tried before. Chili powder and fruit flavors actually go quite well together.
I removed a star from my rating because the service was a bit slow. After I finished my plate, there was a long wait before the server came back so I could ask for more food. I also wanted to try their cheesecake chimichangas, but they were out. Despite this, the service was good and so was the food. I will likely be back.
There were also some live plants in the restaurant, including a very old-looking poinsettia plant. Very cool to see a poinsettia old enough to grow into the lanky form that's more typical of wild specimens. The poor thing looked like it needed a...
Read moreWe went on Cinco so the experience might not be typical. Food was good but a bit expensive for what we received. Service was pretty bad, typically I'd give a pass when it's busy, but they were properly staffed it seemed that they had problems coordinating wait staff, our waitress was overloaded and others were not. It was obvious that they needed to balance the load better and the experience would have been better. We waited nearly 30 minutes to get our check, on a busy night they should be turning tables quicker. Even if it wasn't our waitress, someone should have come by to close us out sooner. One other note, the online ordering was killing the in restaurant experience creating longer wait times for food. This slowed the table turn, creating longer seating times. This is becoming a common issue with all restaurants. I would suggest these smaller restaurants have some limiters or cut offs so dine-in experience isn't compromised. In my opinion It's not worth ruining the experience to dine-in or putting this stress on the staff.
Notes: small parking lot, on busy nights...
