I came in with my husband and parents. This was our first time here and probably our last. It was mid afternoon and just people at the bar were there and maybe a table all the way in the back. As soon as we walked in we noticed it was so freaking hot! Yes it was a hot day but it was almost as warm instead as it was outside. We were not greeted at all and several bartenders noticed us. So after a minute we just sat down at one of the high top tables. We sat there for about 5 minutes and we were sweating because of the heat. I finally went up to the bar and asked if we could get a server. After about five minutes a girl came up to us and we got water and a round of drinks. She was nice but we obviously took her away from her bar crowd. She came back with our drinks and we ordered two pizzas. After some time we're so darn hot, we noticed that not all the fans are going so it's just hot air in this restaurant with no circulation. We needed to order more drinks and she didn't come back to check if we needed more. Mind you, they had 3-4 bartenders for a Saturday afternoon. I had to go to the bar to order more drinks. I ended up asking why it was so hot in the restaurant and she told me "it's because of the windows, they let in too much heat". Um, ok... They're tinted, like to the point that you cannot see in, they're not letting that much heat in and why wouldn't you turn on the fans? So now our pizzas come out, they were messed up but we didn't say anything because we didn't want to wait for them to make two new pizzas, at this point we had to eat and get out. Again after some time we had to go up to the bar to pay because you guessed it, she didn't come to our table to check on us. By the end, we were actually sweating from the heat from being inside and frustrated. But they definitely love their bar crowd, doing shots with them is obviously more important I guess than checking on other customers. Don't waste your time coming here unless you plan to sit at the bar. Also, they allowed a kid to sit at the bar, he was like 5 years old or so which is illegal in Illinois even if you have your parents. This place is tacky and has terrible service, we'll be happy to spend our money...
Read morePretty Good! We had been here about a year ago and had their Broasted Chicken Dinner and remembered it was very good so we stopped in a couple more times this past month. It's a very large sports bar theme space sitting at one corner of a strip mall on Rt. 12. Pool tables, a large bar, big screen TV's and the usual gambling machine area. On one visit, we had the Italian Beef Egg Rolls as an appetizer ($9.25). Their own Italian beef with mozzarella cheese and giardiniera rolled in an egg roll wrapper, deep fried and (2) served with side au jus. Excellent Italian beef flavor, tender, thin sliced and seasoned like a true Chicago beef. The giardiniera was a little too hot for my wife so I had to finish them. I'm sure they could leave out the giardiniera if asked. On that visit we both had burgers and they were very good, but the bun did not hold up well from the juiciness of the burger. $2.75 twelve ounce Miller Lite on tap is a pretty good value. Signs all over the place advertise their daily specials and $7 Italian Beef Sandwiches on Sunday ($11.25 regular menu price) drew our attention, especially after trying the egg rolls. So we stopped in on a Sunday. The beef sandwich was amazing! Piled high with the tasty Italian Beef on the perfect roll. I asked for the hot giardiniera and my wife had sweet peppers. I had fries, my wife got a side salad. Our server asked if we wanted cheese on the sandwich, we said no, but we both got it anyway. My wife had them remake her sandwich - no cheese and I just ate mine. The side salad is huge, plenty of crisp greens and goodies for two people to share. The fries were tasty when first brought out as they were super hot. They are not twice fried to make them extra crispy so they got pretty soggy as they cooled off. As our pictures show, this is a monster of a sandwich and we each brought home half to enjoy the next day. As for the $7 deal, the sandwich itself is $7. Then I think you add $1 for giardiniera or peppers, another $5 or so for fries, maybe another $1 for cheese and not sure what they charge for the side salad. The servers don't tell you any of this so ask or be surprised. We will make this our...
Read moreLet's start with the Broasted Chicken. It was outstanding! The chicken was perfectly cooked, boasting a crispy and flavorful exterior while remaining juicy and tender on the inside. Next up, the Fish Fry did not disappoint either. The fish was fresh and flaky, encased in a light and crispy batter. The portions were generous, and the accompanying tartar sauce complemented the fish perfectly. Now, let's talk about the Mac and Cheese. Creamy, cheesy, and indulgent, this dish was comfort food at its finest. The blend of cheeses used was superb, and the addition of breadcrumbs on top provided a delightful contrast in texture. It's an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy a classic and satisfying dish. Finally, the Calzones were a pleasant surprise. Stuffed to the brim with a flavorful filling and baked to a golden brown, these calzones were a true treat. The dough was light and fluffy, and the combination of ingredients inside made for a scrumptious and fulfilling meal. The service at Saylor Mick's was exceptional as well. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, which added to the overall positive dining experience. In conclusion, if you're looking for a place that serves delicious Broasted Chicken, Fish Fry, Mac and Cheese, and Calzones, this restaurant should be at the top of your list. Whether you're dining alone, with family, or friends, you're sure to leave with a satisfied appetite and a smile on your face. I highly recommend giving Saylor Mick's a try – it...
