Absolutely horrendous experience! First there was not 1 person In restaurant when we ordered. Order simple food with a young lady (17) who seems relatively new or inexperienced. She seemed to be the only one working until we came back to pick up food when another younger male (16-19) was also there. Lady charges us $21 for all star and grilled cheese only WHAT! So we ask for receipt and I go bring it to my mother (71) to view it and we noticed $1.75 and another $1.75 charge plus tax! So being on a fixed income she wasn’t happy as we weren’t aware of such fees. Ok so she nicely went inside with me to ask for a refund of fees. Girl had no idea what to do and calls this Manager/owner who was extremely disrespectful on the phone shouting via speaker phone at my mother that it’s a surcharge and no refunds! As my mom was getting frustrated with the lack of respect, customer service, care for customer she only got more irritated and walked out! As she did the young girl (17 not naming names per their age) was still on phone with said manager laughing hysterically while my moms back was turned walking out. I was in the car watching this and got irrate watching this young lady disrespect her elders by laughing at them. I went in yelling at her due to her lack of respect and requested manager/owner contact info. Young gentleman gave the info to me as the girl went hiding in the back. Called said manager/owner and this man is the most unprofessional, disrespectful, and rudest business person I have ever ran into. His words when I explained what happened was “she was only doing her job” EXCUSE ME LAUGHING AT YOUR CUSTOMERS IS IN HER JOB DESCRIPTION? Laughing at an elderly lady is in her job description, disrespecting customers is in her job description ? I’m sorry then excuse me sir YOU SHOULD NOT BE RUNNING OR OWNING ANY SUCH BUSINESS AND ITS BEST THIS YOUNG LADY LEARNS SOME DARN MANNERS SOON CAUSE THE REAL WORLD WONT APPRECIATED THAT BEHAVIOR. Read moreThis restaurant serves a good breakfast and has good service at breakfast time.I have went two other times once at 4:00 in the morning where the waiter answered his phone instead of taking my order then left and went to sit in his car. Then tonight I come back in 1-21-20. The supposed rock star grill operator could care less if my food was cooked correctly. He burned my patty my bacon and my bun. I finally gave up because no one was cooking my order It was just sitting there burning .All he cared about was bricking his grill and micromanaging everyone in the store like a know it alll he has a lot to learn about good customer service and how to cook food . I feel like I waited forever for them to open this waffle House I wanted to go there so bad and look at me sitting in McDonald's. I will definitely drive to highway 31 where I can get good food and good service which is a shame because this waffle House is one mile from my house. I tried giving them a second chance I came back at breakfast everything was still as miserable Total unorganization giving me cold food just not a real good restaurant to eat at.
Update after years of not going to this Waffle House which is 1 mi from my house I gave it another shot now I realize why I drive to highway 31 the waffle wasn't cooked in the middle The service was okay the bacon was never even drained there was a puddle of grease the cook made my eggs first and then the hash browns and then the toast they were actually cold by the time I got them, this restaurant just sucks and there's nothing they can do to fix it. Read moreWow. What a great service experience. Something I never thought I’d say dining at a Waffle House. We came at 9 pm just for a late dinner. We were instantly greeted by a super friendly worker who hadn’t even clocked in quite yet. Then Angie helped us with our order and was so prompt on drinks. Throughout the experience, the staff had fun. That was great to see that with this group of people they enjoy their job at this hour. They honestly look like such a fun team. From just starting her shift and us being her first table amongst just trying to do other tasks. A member of my party’s waffle got forgotten. He wasn’t super worried about it because he ordered it for his dessert after his meal. Only merely minutes into our meal, Angie lets us be aware that she forgot, wiped it from the bill, and that it will be ready in 2 minutes. She was so concerned but we assured her that everything was fine and it wasn’t to be stressed about. Throughout the rest of our time employees came and went I guess a shift change. But they all were so friendly and telling us to have a good night. We were so puzzled you don’t get this experience and this level of customer service at somewhere where you actually pay for it. All this to say, Waffle House off port Royal after 9 is great. Look for Angie and tell her she’s awesome because she is. Also… tip her well because she deserves it.
