Little shop near a service Road. It's so not impressive from the outside, and just the same on the inside. It's an average-looking shop. Work orders from here all the time when we have meetings, so we have the sandwiches at least twice a week if not more. A couple of co-workers and I were looking for some lunch because we wanted to get out of the office. So they chose to go to Nelson's. From the outside it's cute and next to another karate business in a tiny little strip building. We get in and even though it's lunch time, the place is empty, which is understandable because it is on a service road, and their bread-and-butter is delivery or pick up. But, the tables were dirty and there was trash out a couple of tables, so they didn't bother to clean the area after that one Patron left. But, we order and it's a decent ordering process. You tell the person who's making the sandwich what you want. There are sandwiches listed on the board, and the salads are in a cooler right next to the ordering place. So it's a little streamline but not much. I ordered the health nut. It's a vegetarian style sandwich on a wild rice bun. Like every other sandwich I've ever had there, it was loaded with bun, and it was all bun. The buns and the breads are usually dry to me. And, all of their sandwiches have had less innards and filling that I would get at a place like Jimmy John's. If you can't tell by now, I'm not a fan of Nelson's, but I will eat it because I am hungry and it is okay food. I've had pretty much all of their sandwiches, and I've also eaten pretty much all of their pasta salads or side dishes. They are tasty enough to eat because I am hungry, but every sandwich or pasta salad I've had there have all pretty much had the same flavor and taste. Not meaning there's consistency, but rather meaning the roast beef tastes like the turkey which tastes like the veggie. It's the same for the pasta salads. That dressing or whatever it is that they use is so overpowering that it overpowers the flavor of the noodles and what little vegetable is in the pasta salad. The potato salad is Bland and flavorless and is just potatoes with dressing, and the coleslaw is the same. Long review short it's honestly just an average sandwich shop. They work really hard to please you, but really the food so Bland and tasteless that I would much rather have a sandwich...
Read moreI lived in SLP for many many years & just a couple weeks ago found out about Nelson's. I am so glad I did too because it is terrific. I just wished It was open a little later; like 6-7pm. The lady who waited on me was so knowledgeable about all they have to offer & so patient & nice. I think her name was Diane or DeeAnn.They have several sandwiches & toppings to put on it. Everything is so fresh. The kitchen looked immaculately clean and organized. Service was so quick and my sandwich was perfect. There are many sides that you can get as well. - example potato salad or cold pasta salad (it's a little bit small of a container for the price) but it is terrific. And do they have wonderful desserts so many to choose from. They have many varieties of chips and even more varieties of things to drink. I didn't even get through the whole menu. The facility was extremely clean even the windows. Plenty of places to park. It isn't easy to see it from the road. I will definitely recommend to all my family and friends and even strangers. I am that impressed. I don't think I've ever had such kind service, I just couldn't make up my mind. Thank you very much for a great experience I will be back several times. It is higher than I'd expected in price, bit a nice sized sandwich. Everything everywhere has gone up. Give it a try & support this local business so as to keep the little guys in business. You won't be sorry. PS: I won't eat at any of the fast food chains in SLP again. Service...
Read moreI was planning to take a few pictures inside but was unable since it was PACKED. I feel that's always a good sign when a little hole in the wall place has a line almost out the door.
I absolutely loved the relaxed environment. There's a huge menu written out and easy to read (also available online). I got the Nelson wrap and a pickle (highly recommended by the man in front of me in line).
The wrap is the best cold sandwich wrap I've probably ever had. Fresh veggies, good meat/cheese/veggie/sauce ratio.
The pickle comes pre cut which I think helps prevent pickle juice from leaking down your hand hahaha.
I'm just disappointed I didn't try this place sooner. I will definitely be back and will be recommending it to people also.
Cheese is my favorite food and I'm excited to return and browse...
