Chamon Las Vegas is not just a dining establishment, but a culinary destination that epitomizes the essence of authentic Japanese cuisine. It stands out in the city's gastronomic scene as a pioneer, specializing in the art of tendon (tempura bowls) and skillfully crafted handmade onigiri. Its dedication to tradition and innovation is a unique selling point that sets it apart from other dining options.
Stepping into Chamon, guests are immediately enveloped in an atmosphere that radiates sophistication and warmth. The minimalist decor, with its clean lines and natural elements, is not just a backdrop but a carefully crafted stage that sets the scene for a serene dining experience. Every aspect of the restaurant, from the decor to the menu, has been meticulously designed to transport patrons to a hidden gem in Tokyo, seamlessly weaving together tradition and modernity.
During a recent visit, I enjoyed the exquisite Premium Tempura Bowl, priced at $18.95. This dish embodies the restaurant's unwavering commitment to quality and flavor. The presentation of the bowl itself was impeccable, a testament to the painstaking attention to detail in its preparation. The ebi shrimp, ideally encased in a light, crispy batter, boasted a tender and succulent texture, complemented by their inherent sweetness. Adding onion kakiage provided a delightful crunch, while a soft-boiled egg, with its velvety yolk, added a layer of richness that harmonized the entire dish. Notably, the renkon lotus root and enoki mushrooms offered a pleasing textural contrast, while the shiso herb and nori seaweed introduced a subtle, aromatic freshness, elevating the dish to a level of complexity rarely encountered in tempura bowls.
Alongside the tempura, a serving of miso soup, with its depth of flavor, served as a delightful contrast to the tempura's crispness, while a side of pickles refreshed the palate between bites. This meal's seamless balance of flavors and textures showcased the expert craftsmanship and passion that are hallmarks of Chamon's culinary philosophy.
Chamon's reputation, however, extends beyond its exceptional tendon bowls. The onigiri, meticulously crafted using premium rice and nori and filled with bold, homemade flavors, has garnered a devoted following. These delectable rice parcels are so highly sought after that they regularly sell out before the restaurant even opens, a testament to their quality and the fervent demand they attract. Each onigiri serves as a prime example of the transformative power of simplicity, executed with precision and care, resulting in an extraordinary culinary offering.
In conclusion, Chamon Las Vegas serves as a hub for those seeking a genuine and innovative Japanese dining experience, seamlessly marrying the robust flavors of Japan with the dynamic culinary landscape of Las Vegas. The unparalleled craftsmanship and dedication to quality exemplified by the Premium Tempura Bowl, alongside the cult-favorite onigiri, serve as a testament to the unique offerings that distinguish Chamon. For anyone yearning for an authentic taste of Japan, a visit to Chamon is an...
Read moreCame here for dinner on opening night. The restaurant opened at 5pm, we got in line at around 4:45 and were the 5th or 6th party while the line stretched beyond the length of the building. About 10 minutes before open, a server came out with menus and started taking orders from the first parties in line so that the kitchen could start the orders before seating (they were very straightforward in that the orders take a bit of time so getting them in beforehand would be beneficial for everyone). Someone asked if they could order their entree, but get onigiri once they were inside and the server said they could, however there was only one type of onigiri left as they had run out of the rest at lunchtime around 1:30 (they open at noon). My dining companion and I put in our orders (he got the premium bowl and I got the deluxe combo). All of the parties before us got sat and we were told we could come inside to wait. When we entered, we noticed the dining area is super small (around 5 two tops with two of them pushed together for a party of 3). Shortly, we were told we could have a seat, and we were seated at the bar right in front of the kitchen, so we got a perfect view of all of the action. There is only one pot they are using for frying all of the tempura and one chef making all the orders, so we could understand why they kept telling everyone orders would take a long time. As we were not in a hurry, and I always prefer quality over speed, I could appreciate this fully. When the food came up, everything was presented exquisitely and looked amazing. The server who dropped off the food, pointed out each item on the plate and left us to our own devices. I started with the miso soup, and found it to be good. I've certainly had a lot worse, but it was also nothing to write home about. As I had gotten the combo instead of the bowl, everything was separated, so I chose to put the egg into the rice bowl with some soy sauce, and mix those together. As I ate a bite of tempura, I would also enjoy a bite of egg rice as well. All the tempura was delicious. Since I got the deluxe, it included shrimp, eel, scallops, lotus root, shiso, nori, and the menu stated that it came with enoki mushrooms, but they had told us earlier that they were out of mushrooms and were instead serving with Japanese pumpkin (which suited me just fine as I don't like mushrooms). We did not stay for dessert, but you can be sure that I'll be returning for the amazing tempura, to try most of the onigiris, and the matcha tiramisu. Thank you very much to the staff who were so welcoming and gracious, and to all the kitchen staff for all the tiring work you put in. It's greatly appreciated. ...
Read moreChamon is hands down the best onigiri game in town—and it’s not even close. These rice balls are next-level: perfectly seasoned, thoughtfully filled, and lovingly pressed into handheld bites of joy. We’ve popped in three separate times just to snag a few to-go, because once you try the salmon or omurice-filled versions, you’re hooked. It’s like comfort food took a trip to Japan and only brought back the best.
But on our most recent visit, we finally grabbed a coveted table (only about a dozen seats, so it’s no small feet) and were able to sit down for the full tempura experience. And let me tell you—it did not disappoint. The tempura was crispy without being greasy, and the seafood was fresh and well-executed. We tried one of the set plates and appreciated the variety—not just shrimp or veggie basics, but snow crab, maitake mushrooms, shiso leaf, and more showcase the refined execution of their menu.
Chamon is charming in every sense—tiny, welcoming, and focused on doing a few things exceptionally well. Whether you’re popping in for some of the city’s best onigiri or sticking around for a full tendon bowl, you’re in for something special. Just don’t expect a sprawling menu or glitzy setting—this place is all about flavor, warmth, and a quiet confidence that comes from knowing...
