It was brunch time and I was in the mood to try a new restaurant without having to travel all the way to the strip to experience something exquisite. But as we Las Vegas locals know, we don't have to go to the strip to find something awesome - we have so many places to try in our own neighborhood. However, like I mentioned earlier, I wanted to try somewhere new which involved traveling at least 15 minutes away from my house. I spent about 20 minutes trying to find a new brunch restaurant close to my house (far Northwest part of the valley, but had to expand the search area and stumbled across Good Morning Kitchen and Cocktail Bar (GMKCB). At first, I was reluctant to head that way because of the distance but their menu sounded awesome, so my wife and I got in the car and headed that way.
When we arrived, I quickly noticed all the people waiting outside. Normally, I'll get irritated and opt for a new location because I hate waiting. However, we both wanted to try this restaurant really bad so I just took a deep breath and walked inside to check in. Upon a wonderful greeting by the hostess, I was met with the fortunate news that we didn't have to wait because they had a table-for-two available (majority of the people waiting were parties of 4 or more). After we got seated, I couldn't help but notice how ethereal the restaurant's décor was. I also observed how close the tables were to each other, which was slightly annoying because you don't get as much privacy while you're eating/talking. However, it didn't ruin my time there because it was kind of loud anyways (the dining area isn't massive), and I couldn't really hear others' conversation while trying to focus on my own (maybe some can do this).
GMKCB's menu was simple, yet intricate. I had a difficult time deciding on what to order because everything sounded outstanding! We started our culinary experience with the Mimosa Flight and Bloody Mary - both drinks were phenomenal and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. For our meal, we ordered the Mushroom Tart, Crab Benedict, Breakfast Sandwich, side of Pancakes, and a side of Waffles. I knew from the start that it was going to be too much food, but I didn't care; I wanted to try several things during this visit. Also, I don't want to provide a detailed review for each entrée, so I'll just say that everything was magnificent! The only questionable item was the Crab Benedict because the menu specified that this was tempura-style, but after biting into the crab, it seemed like it was breaded with more of a panko-style breadcrumb. Needless to say, the flavor was still extraordinary.
Our server, Carlos M., did a phenomenal job; he was extremely professional, attentive, friendly, and efficient - all quality traits in a server! I have no doubts that the other servers in this restaurant have the same work ethics and personality. The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was reasonable; I especially commend this restaurant for their support to the folks in the military...this is highly appreciated! GMKCB is definitely a must-try for those that haven't experienced this restaurant yet, and a continuous must-have for all others. I highly recommend this restaurant...
Read moreThis place is the best place to wake up to on an empty stomach. My family and I looked at restaurants near us in Vegas because we were visiting at the time. The restaurant itself has a very welcoming and fun interior. Just by looking at the menu we were a little overwhelmed with all of the vegan and vegetarian options because we are on neither diets. The food that was ordered by my table were the chilaquiles and break fast sandwiches. When the very patient waitress came by, my mom was still overwhelmed and ended up “stress ordering” the chilaquiles. Once my mom received it, it looked absolutely appetizing the presentation was definitely “picture worthy”. In the words of my mother it was “The BEST chilaquiles in the WORLD”. We’ve been to many Mexican restaurants but she loved these above all. I tried them myself and they were so amazing. The salsa verde on top had an amazing flavor and spice to it. With most chilaquiles the common problem is that they’re too soggy, but I will be the one to tell you these were amazing. They were still so crunchy and the tortilla chips seemed so fresh. We were surprised to find out that there was vegan cheese on top which honestly surprised us. The second item ordered was the breakfast sandwich. I’m not much of a sandwich person but when I say that was the best sandwich I’ve ever had, I mean it full heartedly. I’m not a fan of cheddar cheese personally so I substituted the cheddar cheese in the sandwich for gouda cheese and it was so amazing. I love brioche buns and the whole sandwich together just melted in your mouth. The aioli added such a special touch and it really popped. This sandwich was served with a side of potatoes that were really warm but they weren’t anything super special, my only thing would be that I wish that there was a bit more seasoning on the potatoes. Overall we had a great experience here and the food that was ordered was delicious, they have a very diverse menu from meat to meatless. Come here and enjoy it...
Read moreNot a big place but I felt like the way the tables were arranged really took advantage of maximizing seating and space.
We had a party of six and showed up a little late for breakfast (shortly after 10:00), so we had to wait about 30 minutes. Tables of two and four after us were easily seated, so I recommend getting there around 9:00 if your party is larger than four.
Our server was really nice. Service was on par. If we asked for something, we got it almost right away. Sometimes when restaurants are busy and you ask someone for something, you end up having to ask several different people and bug a couple times before you actually get it. That was not the case here.
Most of the food was solid. Nothing was fabulous or worth coming back for but overall it was delicious and the presentation was great.
A couple of not great things: -We were charged $1.00 for a side of ranch to dip fries in (I thought that was weird; it's like getting charged for ketchup or mustard) -The Canadian bacon was the tiniest portion I'd ever seen on an Eggs Benedict. It looked like it was half the size of the English muffin (I'll include reference photos) -The only knives they have are butter knives. It was impossible to cut through the English muffin, so trying to eat the Eggs Benedict was a mess -The Churro Waffle was a miss. No one liked it, said it was dry and tasteless, despite being served with ice cream and covered in sugar and cinnamon
A couple of great things: -The entirety of our order came out almost all together (I've been to places where most of the table will have finished eating before the last person's order finally comes out; so awkward) -The restrooms were super clean and smelled nice (this is a big deal to a lot of people, so it's worth noting)
Summary: good food, great service, nice vibes, beautifully and tastefully decorated, classy and just the right amount of fancy in the tableware.
I would...
