I went climbing yesterday. We got back to the campsite late. It was cold so I jumped straight into bed to stay warm. Needless to say I was starving when I woke up this morning and feeling desperate for a hearty warm breakfast. After some quick searching I found this place and, from the pictures, it looked like exactly what I wanted.
I pull up to the place and see a massive emotional support truck parked out front, naturally spilling over into the neighboring parking space. They've got a half US, half Isreali flag on the back along with a Trump bumper sticker. Whatever, this place doesn't get to decide who shows up. I walk in and it being Sunday morning the place is still quiet. In fact, I'm the only customer. I realize the owner of the truck is behind the counter, dressed in the most douche-y, money-flaunting way you can imagine. He takes some boxed up food out to the truck and leaves.
Look, I don't have a problem with Isreali folks, Jewish folks, Isreali food, the Isreali flag, etc. If you're proud of your people and your heritage more power to you. But when you pair the Isreali flag with a Trump sticker and adorn yourself in wealth while driving a truck that can't fit into a single parking space around an urban environment I have to start wondering if it's not about being proud of your heritage so much as cheering on the bombing of an entire people so you can steal their stuff.
Anyway I left without eating which is saying a lot because, again: really hungry. I just couldn't give that...
Read moreVaskar’s Bakery!! Wow. I’ve been waiting years for a kosher bakery to reopen in the Las Vegas Valley. My wish has been answered and then some. The owners are just amazing people from Israel and they bring a taste of Israel to Metropolitan Vegas. I started with a double espresso and a cheese boureka. The boureka was served warm and it was flakey, flavorful, and touched by angels! For my main course. I ordered the salad Niçoise. The tuna was perfectly seasoned, not sweet, not too pickly, just perfect. Served with a hard boiled egg, house dressing, green beans, radishes, and mixed greens. I wouldn’t mind eating this a couple of times a week. I honestly came in here for a babka. What kosher bakery doesn’t have a chocolate babka? The problem most of the time is the parave kosher babka can have an off putting flavor due to the margarine. NOT THIS ONE. This one tasted as good as a dairy one, but I assure you, it is definitely pareve. Perfect for a kiddush meal. My overall review of Väakers is 10/10. Ingredients please come support them. They need all of the community support we...
Read moreI was looking for a middle eastern breakfast spot and saw the raving reviews so I was very excited to try.
I’m not sure what was going on but we were waiting for the host for an unusually long while before being greeted/seated. Then no one gave us a menu or water for 20 min. We didn’t just walk out bc it was an amusing experience.
We saw several other parties just waiting by the door as clueless as we were and so we realized it wasn’t just us but a normal occurrence.
I eventually got my own water which is fine but everything was extremely slow. The waiters were all nice but not able to wait on any tables.
The food was fine but overpriced for what it was. Don’t mind spending money on great food but the quality should match the price (maybe not this day and age).
Overall, a very strange experience at a dining establishment. It almost felt like a classroom with a substitute teacher but the teacher was hiding in the back. Kinda chaotic.
Maybe it was an off day. I’ll come back and...
