Prices have gone up, which is understandable in recent times. The problem here is quality has gone way down, service is awful, and the fish doesn't look like the species ordered. For starters I ordered Unagi (eel), which I have been eating for 30 years. It was white, and looked like nothing I have ever seen. It also had a texture that was completely new to me. The salmon belly was no different than the regular salmon, so I am pretty sure it was just salmon. And the service was slow, it was difficult to get orders in. I have kind of gotten used to disappointing dining experiences since Covid, but this one was extra irritating. Then the check came. Without warning, two separate totals were listed on the check, one if you chose to pay by Credit Card, and one for cash. The credit card charge was $3.53 more than the cash charge. This is after raising the price of the meal $8.00. Had I been told up front that I was going to be charged extra to pay, I would have left. But this was a hidden fee. I explained to the manager, in the least karen-like way possible, that this wasn't cool. His response was, "my owners have to survive, credit card charges have been as much as $10,000.00". So what that translates to is they have paid $10,000.00 to receive nearly a half million dollars in payments, knowing what credit card fees are. I think they should be able to eat the $3.53. But at the very least they shouldn't charge this as a surprise fee. The manager didn't care, and even told me that I should try the new location on Cheyenne, which he said has the same fee. I explained to him that after being a customer since they first took over Sushi Doe, I will no longer be a customer, and that extra $3.53 was the last money they will ever receive...
Read moreWe arrived at the restaurant at a more off-peak time of day, which was perfect to get a true taste of what this Yama location had to offer! As usual, we were not disappointed with Yama Sushi!
It was a great experience from the moment we stepped through the door, as we were warmly greeted by everyone working there. We were promptly seated in the middle of the restaurant at a very spacious booth…as I said it was not crowded in Yama at this time. No worries - the food was great and the dinner crowd started pouring in around 5PM, right as we were leaving.
We ordered quite a few rolls and 2 appetizers right away. The beautiful presentation in the dishes we ordered was only trumped by the quality of service Yama showed us. But speaking of the food: the various Nigiri we tried were delicious.
I was too caught up in the food and the company I was with to notice what music they had playing, but I don’t recall disliking anything coming from the speakers above my head. I do; however; remember the volume of the music being just right for some ambient background sounds.
For dessert we kept it simple and had the green tea ice cream. It was a good end to...
Read moreYama Sushi knocked it out of the park for my daughter's 27th birthday dinner! We were a big crew—17 people, including 5 energetic kiddos—and the majority of us went for the all-you-can-eat option. I was amazed at how well-organized everything was! Every dish came out in perfect order without any confusion. We didn’t have to ask, "Where’s my sushi?" even once! The food was top-notch, especially for an all-you-can-eat spot. Everything was super fresh and incredibly yummy.
We were all dressed up in silly outfits for the occasion, and they had plenty of seating for us, so we never felt crowded. The staff was awesome and didn’t seem the least bit annoyed by our big, boisterous group. Plus, I have to give a shoutout to their customer service. This place isn't close to where we live, but when I was hunting for an all-you-can-eat sushi spot that took reservations, Yama Sushi was the only one to get back to me promptly—and I mean right away!
As a vegan, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options available for me, too. Big thank you to Yama Sushi! We’ll definitely be...
