El Campestre — Restaurant in Springfield Township

Have been eating here for over 20 yrs under several owners & have always been satisfied until recently. Food is not as good as it use to be. Gaucamole taste off-bad recipe or pre-packaged. Save your money. Menu is too large. It is sad to watch a long established restaurant go down hill & this place is on a slide.

After todays experience I won't be back. We had a terrible waitress at her second day on the job. Would think it would be common sense for the waitstaff to know the menu. This little jewel not only didn't know the menu but was quite comfortable to argue with the customer about it, even though I was holding the menu & implored her to look at it. My order was wrong & I was 3/4 through my food that was correct before she bothered to come back to the table. I very seldom refuse to tip waitstaff but today I did not leave a dime. I will not reward bad attitude, stupidity & incompetency.

I tried to take the issues up with the woman manager on duty & it was nearly as bad. Listening is a skill & this manager either choose not to listen or has limited intellectual abilities & I vote for the latter. I initially thought she was the cashier & asked to speak to a manager. I was shocked to be informed that she was management.

Things really went south at this point. She told me I didn't have to be so rude! (I think that is the new definition of a legitimate complaint) I hotly replied that I did not have to tolerate incompetency. I hope this place the best. They need it but I won't spend another...

This is from a visit on 5-4-24. I’ve only walked out of a few restaurants but this one I was mad the most. Since the food is great, why me and wife went. But the service this time was absolutely horrible. The restaurant wasn’t busy. But we must of got stuck with the worst waitress. Ordered just 2 meals and an appetizer. The loaded cheese dip. After 45 minutes we had not got our appetizer let alone our food. Me and wife also noticed her other couple tables were having problems. Food got sent back to the kitchen and the other table the food came out staggered, like over 10 minutes the whole table finally got the food. I’ve been doing this eating out for awhile and know enough to know this wasn’t a kitchen problem. The waitress wasn’t getting the orders right. When we were leaving I walked past them bringing out our food and guess what? No cheese dip. If you go and get the white girl with red hair just ask for someone else. As a margarita connoisseur I enjoy critiquing every restaurants version. I always order classic on rocks heavy salt... most are average and some are embarrassingly terrible... especially for the margarita being the staple Mexican drink and with their love for tequila I would think a little more craftsmanship would be appropriate... that's where El Campestre comes in... not only did it have the perfect bite behind the mouth watering deliciousness but the presentation was hands down top spot award and being a one or two drinks or less a week consumer it doesn't take too much for me to feel the effects... which I've just come to accept i no longer achieve off just one drink with my meal... this is not the case with my drink I ordered here... let's put it this way... while i would have been 100% capable of operating a motor vehicle...I was grateful to have a driver i realized as I walked to the...
