Hibachi Express — Restaurant in Springfield Township

A friend took me here and spoke highly of their quality. He was right. I was very pleasantly surprised.

The establishment is a repurposed Popeye's, but with the banners, the lanterns, the clean sushi station, and the great staff, it all comes together nicely. An unexpected bonus were the high quality soy sauce, chopsticks, and ample napkins at each table. The 3d printed decorations are stunning, especially the dragon!

Our orders were quickly taken, and we were beaten to our table by our miso soups and seaweed salads.

The miso soup was very rich. It was brimming with seaweed, had delicate tiny cubes of tofu, and was topped with exquisitely sliced scallions. It was like a hug from the inside.

The seaweed salad was a tad oily, but the flavor was perfect. In fact, it is the best-flavored seaweed salad I have ever enjoyed, and the serving was what, 2 cups?! I was thrilled.

Then the rolls arrived. They were well-proportioned. The shrimp in the tempura roll were still hot and delightfully crunchy. Combined the cucumber, avocado, nori, and eel sauce each bite was a perfect creamy, crunchy, sweet, savory treasure.

The spicy tuna, cream cheese, spicy salmon, tempura flakes, eel sauce and masago of the 2 in 1 roll made perfect bites.

The delightfully friendly itamae gifted us four pieces of crab surimi placed on top of small rice and masago rolls, topped with sriracha mayonnaise. He sent us home with warm handshakes and five pieces of guava candy for my friend's grandson.

I stopped by for some lunch recently and ordered a hibachi chicken lunch portion and a California roll. After ordering, the time to get the food wasn't bad. Service was very good and the person at the window was very friendly.

Hibachi Chicken:

The chicken, fried rice, and veggies were all very good. Plenty of flavor especially when adding the sauce in. Portion was generous for a lunch special. Overall it was very good!

California Roll:

Unfortunately the California Roll missed the mark. The size of the roll was pretty small, and while the flavor was good, also very small was the amount of wasabi given. Overall you can get more for your buck at other similar locations. I probably actually would have dinged two stars for this as it was pretty disappointing. Especially for $5. But the hibachi chicken made up for it.

I usually don't review places, but I really want to see this place succeed. I've come here several times since they've opened, and every single time, I've had a great experience. Friendly staff, lovely interior, and amazing food!

I've had a decent selection of their sushi so far, and everything has been so tasty!! I recently got hooked on the Sakura Roll - it's SO good.

Their ramen is pretty good too, although I've only tried the pork belly with tonkotsu broth. The pork belly has always been so tender and packed with flavor! The marinated egg is delicious!

Their gyoza, crab rangoon, and hibachi is great. I also love their bubble teas!

I'm thrilled to have another spot for sushi besides Wokano. Of course, it's not the most "top quality" kind of food, but it beats making a special trip all the way out to Columbus when I'm craving sushi. I know I'll definitely be...
