We were so excited to eat at Big Whiskey’s on a trip to Springfield. We really enjoyed eating there when they were in Lee’s summit, but they shut down during COVID. Unfortunately, our experience at this location was not good. Despite being 1 of 2 tables in the restaurant, our food took a long time to come out. When it did come out, half of the entrees were cold. The other half was overcooked. We rarely saw our server, and when we did see her and ask for something, it would take her 15-20 minutes to come back with it. Something as simple as a side of ranch shouldn’t take 20 minutes. My dad ordered coffee, which got him a look like he had 3 heads. I have worked in a variety of restaurants over the past 25 years, and every one of them always had coffee, especially if they carried any sort of dessert. The initial coffee served was super cold, and very strong like it had sat there a couple days. When he told her it was cold (because he doesn’t mind “strong” coffee), she brought back some lukewarm coffee. He told her again it wasn’t very hot, and she brought back another lukewarm coffee. At this point, he gave up and just drank what he had. A manager briefly came by the table and asked how it was, but it was before the food came out, and we didn’t see him at all after that. It became pretty clear pretty quickly why there was no one there, and we won’t be going there...
Read moreI reserved the upstairs over a month out and also called the same day to verify I had the upstairs space. Both times, I was confirmed that this was the case, got my number and name down and confirmed times and dates. They said both times that they didn’t mind us having separate checks as long as we met the $250 limit for upstairs and wouldn’t charge gratuity because we’d have more than enough people to pay for the space. I showed up to the location during the time slot I reserved, and no one recalled this space being reserved. I had over 40 guests attending an event, and planned ahead of time for this. Under the circumstances, it’s not surprising that the waiters were less than superb (didn’t bring drinks to the table, everyone had to go downstairs to get their drinks and open a tab, food was not ordered for everyone until an hour into sitting). And they still charged a gratuity, and most of us didn’t even get water glasses to drink. The tickets were even pushing over $30/person, and our group was very respectful of timing and understanding for the waiters who didn’t know we’d be there. Just disappointed in the management. I was embarrassed because our area wasn’t even reserved, and I felt like they lacked the preparation to care for the people they confirmed they could the day of and a month prior notice. It’s not surprising they don’t...
Read moreI recently visited Downtown Big Whiskey’s, and I have to say, the service I received from Agnes, Kert, and Corey was absolutely phenomenal. From the moment I walked in, their friendly and welcoming attitudes set the tone for a fantastic experience.
Agnes was incredibly attentive and made sure every detail of my order was spot-on. She went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed without ever feeling rushed.
Kert was equally impressive, bringing an infectious energy to the room. Her recommendations were perfect, and you could tell she genuinely cares about his customers’ experience. She’s a as bc the kind of person who elevates the entire atmosphere of a place.
And then there’s Corey—a true professional. Whether it was checking in at just the right moments or handling special requests with ease, Corey made the visit seamless and enjoyable.
The teamwork and hospitality displayed by Agnes, Kert, and Corey were a shining example of how service should be done. They truly made my night memorable, and I’ll definitely be coming back to Big Whiskey’s because of them.
