Carrie's Bar — Restaurant in Springfield

I took my 91 year old Mother in for the Blues Society Jam session Sunday… We sat in the cubbie with the comfy chairs. All around us, people were vaping! So, I asked the bartender (who drives school bus for Springfield Schools) why vaping was allowed? He told me “because he said so!” Then some younger people sitting at the bar said “vaping was safe” that’s bullshit…. It’s the same as smoking… 🚬 I was miffed at the bartender’s attitude and want to know if this is the norm now? I had been going there for about a year, at least once a week for karaoke or open mic. The regulars are all super chill, the karaoke DJs are awesome, and the overall vibe is great if you're into dive bars. It's one of the few places I could go to sing that didn't trip my anxiety too badly since they have some quieter corners and a big deck out back.

I don't drink super often, but I usually come with friends who do. Most of the time I'll get water, or maybe a soda. Last time I went they tried to charge me $3 for an ice water. We were at the back table, outside, minding our own business, when a regular decided to take a seat at our table. He refused to leave and only got out of the chair to find an off duty waitresses to help him try to take over our table. This employee was looking for a fight. She came back with him, sat on one of the chairs and tried to intimidae our group. She said she could sit wherever she wanted and tried to start a fight. We didn't take kinly.
