The hype is real. We moved to the Springfield, Missouri area going on 3 years ago, and we have tried many Mexican restaurants in the surrounding area. Most of them have been disappointing. Tonight we tried Cesar's for the first time and the only thing I could complain about was the wait; First world problems, right? Full disclosure, the wait wasn't even that long, I am just terribly, terribly impatient. That's on me though, not the restaurant. The Food: The food was cooked perfectly. I mean everything. I ordered the Acapulco burrito. The chicken and shrimp was seasoned perfectly, had the perfect amount of grilling, and was juicy but not dry. The pico de gallo and guacamole was the freshest tasting of either I think I have ever had. The rice had the perfect texture and seasoning. The chips were warm and the salsa had the perfect amount of kick. The Service: The only thing better than the food was the service. Our server (wish I had caught her name) was amazing. She had drinks topped off without asking. When our chip basket ran dry she was RIGHT THERE with more chips. What was most impressive was that she was juggling other tables as well, and she didn't miss a beat with them either. The other staff appeared to be equally efficient and the team work displayed between them all was top-notch. If I were the owner I would be very proud of my staff. They were definitely rocking it tonight. The Atmosphere: It felt genuine. The vibrant colors, music, artwork, sugar skulls, and colorful dishes almost teleported me to a place that was seemingly outside of Springfield and reminded me very much of being in Mexico and brought back warm memories of adventures from many moons ago. Conclusion: All-in-all, it is absolutely refreshing to find a place with extraordinarily great tasting Mexican food, exceptional service, impeccably clean and welcoming atmosphere. Cesar's has immediately become our favorite restaurant, and we can't wait until we're hungry again, so we...
Read moreIf I could give a -10 stars for service I would. Absolute worst we have ever had anywhere! She begrudgingly sat us and just walked away. We asked her for extra salsa when she brought chips.I think that is what set her off. So she brought our drinks out. I had unsweetened ice tea. She brought no sweetness out. Asked for sweeteners she plopped them on table and walked away Had to ask for salsa again.. I have no idea why she ignored our table. Walked by several times. Only had two other tables. Would have been nice if she had asked if we wanted a refill. She went to every other table but ours.🤷 so unfortunately, not knowing her name I tried to get her attention. so I just said Miss. Ignored again. So I did the mortal sin of raising my hand like a student in class and said Miss again. Oh boy, that really did us in for service. Never did get a drink refill. We were not demanding or rude. Her other tables looked like they had checked out or were ready too.She brought our check and walked away.we asked for drink to go since she would not give us one at table. We have eaten here several times and i think they could care less that this will be our last. Manager was on break in the middle of lunch rush😳.We were not asking for anything out of the ordinary. And we were not rude or demanding. We always tip according to service. Other servers who have waited on us before were tipped well well above 20% one was tipped 50% of our bill.. I would have left her nothing. But our $ 1.00 hopefully got the point across. Hard times are coming. Maybe already for them. Maybe they discourage their servers to bring extra salsa and drinks because of their rising food cost. We went to Caesar’s because of recommendation (word of mouth). It’s obvious that they must be doing well by the reviews. Hard times are coming. Won’t ever complain about something they cannot control, rising prices. They can control the quality of...
Read moreOrdered a sope, menu said it came with queso cheese and sour cream. When it arrived, there was a very tiny liquid spatter of what appeared to be either cheese or sour cream. It didn't even cover the dish. So I asked for cheese and sour cream. If an item says it comes with something, it should actually have those things on in it in a moderate if not generous amount. To me, the queso cheese is what really adds to the flavor of a Mexican dish. With no cheese, it tasted really flat. I was brought a small amount of what may have been powdered queso, but tasted more like parmesan and was not good, and a dollop of sour cream. When we addressed the lack of these items, the waiter first said the small amount of what was on top was cheese, then he said it was sour cream. The sope itself did not taste as good as other places I've had it. It had a red sauce that tasted more like pasta sauce. When the ticket came, we were charged $2 for the cheese, and $2 for the sour cream. The sour cream was literally less than a spoonful, and so was the powdered substance, in those tiny plastic containers. The entire issue was that the menu said it came with those things. Under other circumstances, even if we had asked for the items, charging $2 a piece for a spoonful is unreasonable. When we addressed the charges, the waiter seemed to have an attitude. He made an adustment, but still charged us for one of the items. The margarita tasted good and bartender was nice, but we were charged $14. It was more than the meal. I asked for a basic margarita because I don't drink mixes which have artificial colors and gives me a migraine. A margarita is made with tequilla, lime juice, triple sec. Why should customers be charged such a high price when nothing extra or special is added than the basic formula? Other than this experience and it being very noisy there, we normally love the food, staff, and like...
