My wife and I had never been here so we thought we would try it out. The breakfast food we ordered was ok. We both had biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were hard on the outside and soft on the inside. The southern style potatoes were good. The eggs I had over easy were not cooked thoroughly they were partly raw. My wife had scrambled eggs which were fine and we both had bacon which was over cooked. My wife also had hash browns which was a very small portion. The waitress when paying our bill tried to over charge my card $10 I assume for her tip. We had intended on tipping her although her service was terrible and she didn't even bring us our food a waiter did. She never asked if we wanted refills. When she initially brought my card back and said it was declined I called the customer service number which charges $2 every time and when I have to speak with a representative it charges $4. I specifically told her when I gave her my card. Take $33 off the card for the bill and here is $5 cash to cover the rest. We also have cash for your tip. She did not listen and tried to over charge my card. I kept telling her to charge a lesser amount because I had to call customer service 3 times and it cost me $16 in fees because she kept trying to run the card for more. We spoke with the manager who showed us the handheld device they scan your card with and said that the waitress never tried to run the card for the amount that the card representative said was being charged. I had the card representative on speaker phone. We ended up just paying cash and giving no tip. We will never be back. The food wasn't very good and how they conducted business was even worse. Don't ever trust handing your card over for waiters or waitresses to take and be out of your site. They can write the numbers down, take a picture or even try to over charge it. The world we live in. I told my wife good thing that we carry cash. Surely can't...
Read moreI ran across this restaurant a few weeks ago when I was visiting the record store, Stick it in Your Ear, just a couple of doors to the east. The aroma was something that drew me, but I had other plans and was unable to stop. I rectified that today and stopped in. What an amazing cafe. This is the kind of place you see on Guy Fieri's show, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, and I'm not really sure why I've never heard of it. I'm willing to go out on a limb and call this the best kept secret in town for breakfast. They have a lunch menu as well, that will be for another visit. I ordered the Julia's Tacos, scrambled eggs with green and red peppers, jalapenos, red onions, and a fantastic breakfast sausage, with sliced avocado on the side, warm corn tortillas, and choice of potato, I got their hash browns, which I very highly recommend. Served with a homemade salsa, I was in heaven. She asked if I wanted hot sauce, I asked for Cholula, but I didn't need any because the flavor was there, and then some, what a fantastic breakfast. My friend ordered the Michelle, scrambled eggs with mushrooms and feta cheese and chose the sweet potato hash browns, they were really good as well. (I'm a traditionalist, I will stick with the regular potatoes, 😉) The wait staff was attentive without being annoying about it, our waitress was very friendly. She brought a full drink menu with the food menu, and this wasn't some small beer and wine list, they have a full bar with some top shelf drinks, which I would love the get an Uber some time and just sample a few. All in all, this was a fantastic find, I saw several other plates around us with dishes that looked phenomenal, one in particular I want to try, the bagel and lox. This will become a hangout, I can feel it. If you're in downtown off Walnut and South, have an appetite, trust me, you won't be...
Read moreOk so my review comes from going to this place on a day where the streets were covered in deep snow and I was thankful that they were even open to serve me breakfast! I had a unique breakfast order that wasn’t exactly on their menu and my waiter didn’t even bat an eye. Shorty after my order was placed to my table arrived a plate of six egg omelet filled with bacon side of bacon and fried potatoes. Glorious in all its egg and fatty pork meat deliciousness. Yet again I found myself taking a bite before a picture but it also helps to accentuate the depth of filling in my omelet. Even though I was already thrilled to have found a place open this day i was even more excited that the food was delicious. Topping off this great meal is the image of my coffee mug. My waiter didn’t let that cup go below half full and I loved that!! Fun fact the nectar that filled my cup was from a local coffee roaster which is another passion of mine. I love supporting local restaurants and coffee shops and this was a two bird one stone scenario. The coffee was great too and hot as it was freshly brewed. Gonna be hard to eat breakfast anywhere else when I’m in town based on my experience and would suggest you roll in and see what’s up! Great way to start your day just be mindful of your coffee intake. They were so good at refilling my cup I lost track of how many cups I drank and was definitely hyper caffeinated as I...
