A ghost of its past self. I knew when I walked in, JOB was going to be very different from the JOB I originally fell in love with; since the lose of the original owner.
The good sides: the atmosphere was like walking back into the OG place. I was happy they didn't make any big changes. The menu is also mostly untouched with most of the popular options still available for both grad school and JOB.
The bad side: the food left me wanting. Be it the wings, the full ride or the fallaf.
At first, I felt they made a neat change to the wings by adding rice starch. For a naked wing it would be delicious with a nice shatter to the skin when you sink you teeth in. For some reason when you decide to sauce your wings, however, they still serve them naked instead of tossing them in sauce. Then only gave a small 2 Oz cup full of the sauce you requested, which isn't near enough.
In addition to the changes to the wings they also vastly overcharge for the fries. They costed 5 dollars for a tiny handful of them. Long gone are the days of overloaded baskets of delicious French fries, now are the days of over priced spuds that leave you wanting.
While I did not personally consume the falafel burger the description I was give by my friend was "a charcoal briquette" and the look told a similar story.
Finally the full ride. I happily tried it when offered some by another friend. I was happy to see they went all out on the delicious cheese and it really brought me back to my days at gradschool. My only complaint was not using smash burgers anymore. The new larger patties make the burger far larger than it used to and you really lose out on the delicious carmelization of the meat and the ratio to cheese and meat goes off a bit. (Overall still very tasty.)
The ugly: finally the service. Most of the issues with the food could have been reduced slightly with more care by the server. While the food arrived quickly the server paid almost zero attention to us. It took close to 45 minutes to get any refills on waters and forget getting additional sauce for wings. (And if the overpriced fries were unlimited they definitely didn't make it known and I wouldn't be able to ask them even if I wanted too.)
As a note it was quite slow when we originally walked in and while it did get busier as we prepared to leave the server definitely could have kept a closer eye.
Conclusion: It's not bad overall but a shadow of the original. Honestly, I think if the server were more attentive and the fries weren't so overpriced I could have been far more lenient on other things but as is it was mediocre...
Read moreMy wife and good friend stopped in for a drink last night. Possibly the worst experience I've ever had with a bartender. I think her name was Jillian but I am not positive. Anyway she brought me my shot of buffalo trace and everything was fine. She set a couple bottles of whiskey in front of me while making some other customers a drink. I reached out and turned one of them so I could read the label, as I like to read and learn about different whiskeys and Bourbons I've not seen before. She immediately scolded me agressively. I know that I should not have reached out like that but the response was not warranted. She then began leering at me from across the room, like hatefully, I was shocked. My wife was extremely upset by all of this and said "I think we'll take the check" and she said "yeah you will". As we were leaving the other female bartender apologized to us but there is no way we should have had to pay for our 1 drink with that kind of treatment. We will not be back as long as this woman is...
Read moreStopped in here for a drink and a light app before meeting friends somewhere else for dinner. Pizza balls were good but that's where it stops. Not sure what the bartender's name was but she had little to no knowledge of the whiskey she was standing in front of. I had read on other reviews that the pours here weren't cheap...this was an understatement. I have been to some of the top whiskey bars in the world, and this might be one of the most price gouged places in existence. Their high end is ridiculously high and even their mediocre whiskey pricing doesnt make any sense. $40 for a pour of their barrel pick Buffalo Trace?!?! Pricing was absurd and inconsistent, and must be why this place was nearly empty during happy hour. Seems that the intention of the owner is to just keep stuff so he/she can drink it...I will never come back here. Walk 2 blocks down to Flame and get a heavy pour of...
