It's a shame Chef Wayne's Big Mamou closed down. Luckily what took its spot is another amazing family-run restaurant. Liberty's Mediterranean is exactly what you want out of a restaurant experience; unique cuisine that's both delicious and affordable. A must-try in the area! The Staff: usually I review the food first, but how can you ignore such amazing, courteous and friendly staff? The kitchen is filled with the family that owns this business. Everyone are happy to chit chat with you and serve you with a smile. We need more family-run businesses and less corporations/chains. The Food: I was skeptical when I saw the menu ranging from grinders, salads, gyros, falafels, Philly Steak n Cheese to chicken wings and lasagna. Yet everything we tried was delicious! The gyro was full of flavor and meat, the gyro over rice was on a bed of fluffy amazing rice. Falafels were super crispy outside, and tender/moist inside. Jo-jo potatoes were salted to perfection, were crispy, and had an unsual but amazing citrus flavor, perhaps a squeeze of lemon/lime? The Drinks: There are two cooler with various sodas and water. Individual servings and 2 liter bottles. You are given complementary coffee and mint tea, which were both great. Hey free drinks is okay in my book. Atmosphere: The dining area is small, perhaps it can fit about 20 people. Seems like majority of people order take-out as there is a steady yet constant stream of people coming in to pick-up their orders. There are magazines to read while you dine, and a few board games to be played. The walls are covered with interesting paintings, artworks, and signs. Cost is amazing: 12 pcs Jo-Jo Potatoes, 4 Falafels, Chicken Gyro, Gyro over rice, and 2L diet coke cost us only $36! That's only $15-20 per person! Compared to Villa Napoletana in East Longmeadow where ONE entree can cost you $30-45, this place is a steal! Overall: Definitely a neat gem on the quieter outskirts of Springfield's Downtown. If I'm ever taking the train, you better believe I will be getting dinner at Liberty's Mediterranean. My only regret about this place is I did not find it sooner! Perhaps after your meal hit up White Lion Brewing Company down the street for some beers?

I’ve ordered from here four times and I think that’s a fair amount of chances. Unfortunately, the customer service was lacking in today’s complaint with the woman, I believe an owner, who was handling my issue. I gave my name for pick up order after speaking with her for the last week multiple times over a refund for a missing grinder that never got refunded. Instead she offered to take an order for me to come in and she would compensate me for the grinder. I understand preference but after two orders of inedible lamb gyros. And I’m glad they get rave reviews. I used to be one of them. I was actually having someone try them for our lunch choice today because I love their beef gyros. We both took one bite but couldn’t eat it. Two gyros left untouched but we couldn’t be compensated because she just had a great compliment on their Lamb gyros. I politely said thank you and hung up. I feel if I was in the restaurant and I can’t eat the meal, it gets handled. There were no options for me. All of this after waiting over a week for a refund for a grinder I never got. Before that, they didn’t follow special instructions for sauces on the side and before that I was missing the tabouli salad I wanted to try. So yeah, it’s unfortunate that these last gyros were inedible for us. These are the delicious looking gyros that we didn’t eat. Just fyi, I have never posted a bad reviews. I typically only leave comments if I’m happy!

Rly nice ppl & great food. Told'em its my first time here and asked about local favorite grinders. Was recommended with philly cheese, handmade meatballs and baked chicken. Went with meatball and after finishing my sandwich I confidently claim that all these 5star reviews are legit true speaking as I join them too. They sliced a big juicy meatball into the grinder so they don't jump out and u can dive ur teeth in so easy so soft but still they did not lose thier meat texture and flavour. Smokiness from roasted pepper really balances well with meat+cheese and I loved that simple combination. Owner breifly told me about the restaurant and how he's keeping his grandmother's meatball recipe to make the real meatballs in old ways. I could really feel his pride and love on his restaurant and I recommend any travelers and locals to try the grinders out. U can help local businesses and upgrade ur meal at the same time! 8 inch grinder was 8.50 and u can also have either cup of coffee or tea. For a grinder this fantastic + drink under $10 I find that a great deal. P.s.: -while i was waiting for my sandwich, a man walked in -he said he's not here to eat today -(me: ?????) -Then he started to pour out compliments about the dish he was served the other day and how the "saltiness" of the food was just the way he wanted and how much he loved the food. -says he'll return tmr and just walked out Funny but legit happened.
