For years, this has always been our favorite restaurant for eating out when we are in Springfield. I am in my late 60's and my husband is in his early 70's. This is a buffet style restaurant and the food here is home cooked. There are many choices of salads, meats, and vegetables to choose from. In addition, you are given your choice of hot roll to pick from. The servers behind the buffet spoon out your choices of each food group for you and you will pay for each selection separately. The restaurant generally has a selection of pie slices for dessert and this, too, is paid separately as well as your selection of drink (no alcohol). If you are a big eater, a regular all you can eat buffet is a better choice of for you. We have never eaten bad food in this place! It is always good, fresh, and hot. There are also separate clean restrooms for the women and men to use if needed. In addition, there is plenty of parking outside and plenty of seating in booths or tables inside. They also cater to big meetings in a huge separate dining room. This restaurant caters to older people as noted by the age of those coming in. The acoustics are good for hearing conversations with a party of up to four and also you may ask for complementary coffee which the waitress will to bring you. The tables and booths are spaced far apart, too, to give you...
Read moreOkay, where to begin. On the negative side, they promote themselves as homemade but YUK 1: the mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes (not even the good ones) flavored with Country Crock. YUK 2: The green beans had so much smoke flavoring in them they completely annihilated the taste of the bean. However on the very POSITIVE side, our tossed salads were crisp and the fried catfish absolutely perfect as was the sweet corn. Len and I shared a piece of Peanut Butter Pie - (we ended up taking it with us but it was excellent). The meal for two came to a little $30 plus tip for the server but we should have just ordered one meal and an extra salad. This is really on us, when in an unfamiliar restaurant we really should remember that as we get older, we just eat less and should start out sharing, you can always get more. So overall,...
Read moreThis is one of my wife's favorite restaurants. So I jokingly say it's old people food. It is popular among the older crowd LOL. The staff are always nice and helpful, won't get that at those fast food places. It is good food though a little pricey.wife usually gets the fried chicken Mac& cheese and whatever veggies they have. She likes them every time. I get either the roast beef or chicken. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Chicken is always juicy and tasty, surprised a non chicken place does it this good. Roast beef is juicy and flavorful each time. Mac& cheese is a little different then other places, think they use more cheddar or something. Always tasty and consistent. The mashed potatoes and gravy are real good. Can tell the potatoes are not homemade but still really good. The gravey is on point each time. Great...
