Moctezuma's Traditional Mexican — Restaurant in Springfield

Beware of this restaurant. I have had repeated experiences with them where their menu does not reflect their charging nor do they tell you when the charges are different as printed until the bill arrives. The food is decent (not wonderful) and there are no better options in the area, so I just let it slide previous times.

Today's experience was awful enough that I will not come back again until the problems are rectified.

First, they were out of guacamole and didn't alert us after ordering dishes with guacamole. They then didn't offer to make it up to us - we had to request that they discount our meals. We would not have ordered as we did if there was no guacamole. They did eventually discount our meals on this account.

Second, they overcharged one person in my party for tacos because they said the 3-for-$7 option only is for the same kind of taco (which is not said in the menu). This is not written on the menu and was not explained until the bill arrived.

Third, when one person in my party asked for sour cream in their burrito, they did not see any sour cream in it. When we requested that we get sour cream on the side to fix the problem (suboptimal solution), they charged the person for extra sour cream.

In regards to their food, I will say that I have only had marginal enjoyment of it. Unfortunately, there are no wonderful Mexican/Latin American restaurants in this region and this restaurant is one of the better ones. Specific to today's experience, I did not enjoy their horchata, which tasted watered down.

In regards to their service, I have found it subpar each time I went. Including my prior trips here, there is always a struggle getting the attention of the one person at the counter even when there are only 2-4 tables with patrons at them. There was no exception during this visit. The person today couldn't even say they liked any certain dishes when asked for recommendations (I had to ask if they even liked their horchata). When it came time for the bill, they just dropped off the electronic tablet for us to swipe and didn't even make eye...

Service was poor . We waited an hour for the food . They came to the table with the wrong plate which I did not order . My husband order chorizo and they gave it to him without the chips. The young girl at the counter wanted my husband to eat the chips that I order with my salsa. The food came late about an hour. No napkins and almost when we were done eating was when the young girl came to ask if we needed anything . I like when the owner is there taking care of the customers. We read an article about a section of Mexico City populated by the original native people. Still speaking the original Axtec language. They make 90% of the mole', for Mexico city over 25 million. We decided we had to have mole' with chicken. This dish is a favorite of mine and my wife. Moctezuma's does a great job on this dish. Tender chicken breast sliced into strips, and covered in sauce.
