OXO Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Springfield

Took the my adult daughters and brother to this location for dinner . 630pm 8/21/24

It is a bar . Very loud music. At the time we were there. No other customers were there.

We ordered Chicarron bites with guacamole. Fresh fried bites, tasty crisp, yet tender middle. Guacamole was just meh. Needed salt and spice .

Queso, salsa and chips. Queso had just the right amount of spice. But was a tad bit too thin. Salsa , I couldn’t tell if fresh made or from a jar. But was good either way. That had a good amount spice. Daughters thought to spicy 😂

Dinner plates were 2 orders of asada fries Crispy, seasoned fries. Topped with all the goodies . Very tasty and good can’t go wrong with this

We had 8 tacos 3 shrimp, 2 fish, 1 pollo , 1 pastor , 1 asada . The seafood tacos with the sweetness of the pineapple and spicy of chipotle sauce. The best I’ve had around Springfield. Pastor was tender , can tell cooked low n slow . Asada steak was tender and flavorful. We put the salsa on it that came with the plate. Lil spicy but good. Chicken taco was meh. Lacked flavor .

Also had sides of black beans, refried beans, rice

1 daughter ordered the accountant nachos with no pico and no jalapeno. However . The menu states Doritos , cheese, meat, lettuce, , avocado,pico, jalapenos and sour cream .

It came out with NO CHEESE, NO LETTUCE , NO AVOCADO, and the meat was ice cold.

We told a guy, who we assumed to be a manager or one of the owners . He apologized and said he’d make a new one. After clarifying what was wrong . 45 seconds later . It came back with Cheese and sour cream on top of the old plate . Still NO LETTUCE, NO AVOCADO AND STILL COLD MEAT . My daughter didn’t wanna complain . So she just ate it. Said if they can’t get it right then2nd time. There’s no way they’d get it right the next time.

Waitress was friendly . Most of the food was good and delectable.

I will go back. However my daughters will not.

Alright, so we hit up OXO for tacos and damn—it was really good.

The pork belly taco was ridiculous. Crispy, flavorful, and that cilantro sauce with a squeeze of lime and a little spicy salsa? Just nailed it. Total banger.

My fiancée tried the pastor and basically declared it the best one she’s ever had. The adobo on the pork was super rich, and the charred pineapple gave it this sweet little punch that worked perfectly.

I had the chorizo too and was kinda shocked at how good it was. Usually chorizo’s a grease bomb, but this one wasn’t oily at all—just grilled right and super flavorful. Felt like they really knew what they were doing with it.

The shrimp taco had some solid heat from the chipotle sauce, and the slaw + pico kept it fresh. Real solid.

Tried the steak taco too, with pico, avocado, cheese on a flour tortilla. It didn’t blow me away like the others, but it was still good if you’re in the mood for steak.

Also got the elote on the side—came in a little bowl, sour cream, mayo, cotija. It was way better than expected. Could’ve eaten a big bowl of that alone. And the owner? Super cool. Walked us through the menu, told us where the recipes came from, talked about his family’s background, even chatted with us about baseball for a bit. Just good vibes all around. No question—we’ll be back. If you’re into real-deal tacos, get your ass...

I was going to give a real low score but the waitresses were attentive though I didn't know who was really my waitress. I had like 3 of them, then one never came back with a drink..😆 The $20 tortas are a joke. They had more fries than torta. It was more like a snack. I've never seen tortas that small and with fries btw. I'm from South Texas. It wasn't a real torta. Tortas usually have avocado in them too. It was sloppy. A decent size torta is like $8-10 dollars alone now. Smallest torta iny life..lmao. unreal. The bottle beer was local and expensive but at least the music was good. It's also too bright in certain areas. Need to have that ambiance. Just saying... Response: Your waitress said the torta was $20 not $12..lol. I got charged $20. They never mentioned rice or beans.. either. Your $20 tortas are still a joke!!! I'm looking for my receipt to post and prove it.. you must be from Monterrey MX.
