This was our first visit. Like many others we waited until the drive thru lines weren't so busy.
We had previewed the menu online before going and had decided we would do the 2/$25 with 2 entrees and 2 appetizers. When we ordered she told us it was now 2/$30 but we thought that would still be the way to go considering the high price of an order of crab rangoon. (They are 4/$5.45, more on this later).
My wife got spicy cashew chicken and I got Thai Spicy Drunken Noodles. Both dishes had very good flavor, however the portions were quite small especially considering the price. The entrees alone would not have been enough food. If we had purchased them separately the cashew chicken would have been almost $12 and the Drunken Noodles would be $14, portions were very small for those prices. If I had purchased my entree and appatizer separately it would have cost over $19, there is no way it was worth that much. I could have a good steak with 2 sides in a restaurant where I would be served at my table for less than that. For this reason I gave the Food a 3 ⭐ rating.
While the crab rangoon had good flavor and were quite large the shells were soggy. We prefer a crunchy shell like their menu states that they are made with wonton shells. We put ours in the oven at home for 20 minutes and they were a little better. Ironically, the best crab rangoon in Springfield, and the best we've had anywhere, are at China King which is located directly behind Thai Express. The order of 4 at Thai Express is definitely not worth $5.45.
Overall it wasn't a bad experience, the flavor was really good, but for $30 in a drive thru we felt like we should have had more food, and were disappointed in the crab rangoon. As mentioned before, China King will not disappoint and the portions are large, and the 2 of us can have dinner for $10 less than here. And my wife can make 2 meals out of her China King order. We wanted to try this place because it's new on our side of town and we knew the owner tries to support the local community, despite how the media tries to portray him, but unfortunately it will not be a regular stop for us. We wish them long...
Read moreThai Express has great food. They have always been fast and fresh and if you have any dietary questions about preparation, they will do their best to answer them and work with you. The owner (the younger Patrick) is a fantastic human being, as is his dad (also named Patrick) and his whole staff. During the pandemic, Patrick was instrumental in keeping our community not only fed, but stocked with groceries, as he ordered items that were in high demand and hard to find in grocery stores and had them available at his restaurant for purchase. Not only that, he constantly promotes "the competition" publicly, when he posts pictures of food from other restaurants he enjoys. He treats his staff phenomenally well, offering competitive pay, taking them out to dinner, closing the restaurant occasionally to give his whole staff much needed rest days,, taking them on vacation and often offering discounts to the community in order to encourage extra tips to his staff which he of course matches a percentage of. The food is always tasty. If you are new to Thai food, ask for recommendations. They will hook you up. If you have an issue with the quality of a dish, which I have never personally had, let them know. They encourage feedback and will do their best to make it right. I highly recommend the massaman curry or magic noodles which are two of my favorites, but you can't go wrong with anything you get there. If you want to give your business to a restaurant who is doing everything right, pick Thai Express. You will be...
Read moreA-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was a very nice surprise to find in Springfield, MO. It's a small place and is packed during the lunch rush. I tried the Royal Chicken (medium) and was blown away! The royale chicken is lightly breaded and comes with a side of fried rice. The sauce was mild and the next time I get it, I will ask for some heat! Everything tasted very fresh. Today the owner had purple hair this week and makes you feel welcome! If you have a craving for Thai food, you have to try out Thai Express! Oh and don't forget to get a bowl of the chicken rice soup while you wait for your meal. It is free if you are dining in!

review update 2/4/19
I went back 2 weeks ago and got the Ginger chicken and side order of shrimp spring rolls. Both were so good! The spring rolls come with a sweet vinegar sauce that is perfect for dipping the spring rolls in. The Ginger chicken was not spicy, but I tried 2 of the hot sauces by the front counter and that put some heat on it! Best Thai food around, I try to go there every time I am in...
