We frequent Dublin Pub often, especially later in the evening. They have a wide selection of dishes. The Spinach salad is especially good, as is the flat iron steak. My wife loves the French fries and the impossible burger with all the toppings. I like the mushroom & swiss burger, and they'll cook it medium rare which is my choice. Great service.
2/26/2024: We again went to Dublin Pub for dinner, and to put it mildly, it was awful. The service was good; that's where good ended. My wife ordered chicken noodle soup and a salad. The soup was more like chicken and dumplings, was flavorless, and barely warm. She didn't finish it. I had corned beef and cabbage. Again, not much flavor, the corned beef was tough, and the dish was watery: the cabbage had not been drained before serving. What made the evening worse was the loudest bartender we've ever experienced; people downtown could have heard her. She was accompanied by an equally loud man at the bar who clearly had too much to drink, and a couple who who constantly cackled with their loud voices. We were seated across from the bar and had difficulty carrying on a conversation. We won't be back soon. Last night's rating: 4* for service, 1* for food and atmosphere.
7/3/2024: We returned to Dublin hoping it had improved. My wife had the Impossible burger and enjoyed it. I had a plain hamburger that was badly overcooked, dry, and almost tasteless. I ordered it with onions, and it had everything BUT onions. I gave the toppings to my wife, and she gave me her onions. The fries were good. Our server seemed overeager to have us leave as soon as possible. I don't like to receive the check well before I finished my meal. DP was crowded and very noisy. The noise increased when a singer set up and played the guitar, both badly. He'd sing a verse from a song, then talk; he'd sing a verse from another song, then talk some more. A further problem was his choice of covers: For example, Steeler's Wheel "Stuck in the Middle with You" is difficult to cover, and his one verse was dismal. It will be another long absence before we go back...
Read moreBEWARE OF ONLINE ORDERING!!! I don’t even know where to start with this one. On 08/04/23 I placed an online order directly through Dublin Pub’s website. I had an order for nine people, so I thought I would save the Dublin Employee the hassle of taking the time to manually enter the order and placed my order online. I DID NOT GO TO A THIRD PARTY WEBSITE! When placing the order the price of each item matched the online menu, didn’t think anything else about it. However, AFTER I placed the order I received a confirmation email and the prices for each item were significantly higher. The menu price for a Dublin Pot Roast was $14.95, yet I was charged $17.05. (And the same scenario rang true with all the other items on my order.) When I went to pick up my order I questioned the price increase and was told that they do in fact use a 3rd Party app ON THEIR WEBSITE to collect payment. Something called ChowNow. The bartender was very apologetic and said she would try to get me a partial refund; however the General Manager got involved at that point and was a bit rude. She said she would have to clear that with Joe Rupnik, the owner, and apparently Joe was in no mood to entertain that idea. I was told by the GM that Joe said “that’s just the way it is”. I would completely understand if there were any kind of disclaimer on the website stating that they used a 3rd party app and the prices would be higher due to that 3rd party app, however, there is no mention whatsoever. It is very deceiving and very unprofessional to treat customers the way I was treated. To top it all off, I placed my order at 2:00 for a 4:30 pick up and even received an email saying my order would be ready at 4:30. But when I got to the restaurant, they hadn’t even starting preparing the order so I had to stand and wait at the bar for 25 minutes. I have been a customer of the Dublin Pub since they originally opened on MacArthur Blvd. Needless to say, I will not be back. In today’s environment Customer Service should be a priority. Unfortunately for a lot of places, it...
Read moreI have lived out of state for over two decades, so until the time when someone has a non-dairy cheese sauce, I have been weak and make an exception to have a horseshoe when I'm visiting again.
I picked Dublin Pub because they have veggie burgers (Beyond), sweet potato fries (great for people who can't eat potatoes), and a pepper jack cheese sauce.
I had been getting it without bread to avoid wheat, forgetting to ask about the cheese sauce ingredients, and it turns out that the cheese sauces all contain wheat.
Updated update November 11th, 2023: picking up one last order before hitting the road. Thank you, Jason, for making sure everything was great this time for takeout. Thanks!
Their sweet-potato fries are great! I definitely recommend trying the sweet potato fries and with their pepper cheese sauce if you can eat it (dairy/wheat), even if you don't get a pony shoe.
(Details of updated review after three more visits, November 2023, one dine- in, two takeout)
I'm updating my review to say double check your order before you leave if Jason hasn't personally guaranteed it. You might feel stupid and/or rude, but it will be less annoying than not finding out your part of the order is wrong until you're at your destination two towns away and the meat eaters both got everything they wanted. 🤣
First time this visit was in the restaurant. The food was good, but you may only want to eat here if you are crunched for time like to see a movie, etc., or give yourself extra time. It was in the neighborhood of an hour before we got our entrees.
Second visit was takeout. The cheese curds were great and had the right sauces. The person who got a cauliflower-crust sausage pizza said it didn't seem spiced (was bland).
(Original review from May 2023) Had a ponyshoe with veggie burger, sweet-potato fries, and pepper-jack sauce. Definitely recommend this combo (if you can eat the dairy and wheat in the...
