The person checking ID's had no smile, don't think he actually even looked at me or my friends in the face at all. Server was nice but they were crowded and our next 2 friends had to walk to the bar to get their first round. Fine, it's great this place has customers right. Not gonna sweat that it took a bit. First round of drinks were right. Short brown haired girl bartender messed up our 2nd round. The lounge area was very busy and since I am a bartender myself I thought I could simply expedite things by walking up to the bar where my server was standing and return the wrong drink. The bartender looked at me as I handed my drink to the server, who handed it to the bartender, who rolled her eyes at me, poured the correct drink and continued to set it as far from me as possible. Seriously, why not just hand me the drink she obviously knew was mine. Instead I waited there while the server ran around waiting on other people. I asked, "May I have my drink?" To which she (bartender) replied, "You can't just take it. How do I know it's yours?" Really, are you so preoccupied that you looked right through me before? So, I continued to wait. Officially dressed management looked to be standing around yet no one approached. This is when I took it upon myself to grab my drink and go back to my table. Now, I should not have done that. However, If I wasn't treated poorly by the bartender I would not have been tempted to do that. This is when she ran up to me, yelled in my face about stealing drinks that weren't mine and snarled at my whole group. Who does that? I very politely laid my hand on her shoulder and said she should not be yelling at a paying customer and she ran over to get her bouncer, who grabbed me unnecessarily and escorted me out. So, I am wondering, why does this bartender have the right to be a complete a**, yell at customers and then ultimately tell her bouncer whatever she did to get me manhandled? Where is the management when all this is happening? And why was I not allowed to speak to one? If this is the way they choose to handle situations, it is a sad shame. I will never go back. I will never recommend this place. And on top of it, I will badmouth them to whomever asks me where to go in St. Matthews. They can afford 10+ big screens and expensive decor but can't hire friendly customer oriented people. Pitiful. *Did not eat but they made me...
Read moreI hadn't been to Drakes in a decade. I had remembered it as more of a night club that I went to back when I rode motorcycles in 2012-ish. I never would have come to Drakes for food for lunch, and I didn't for all that time.
Today is a coworkers Birthday and they wanted to come here. A group of 14 of us stormed Drakes and we had a fantastic time! Emma was out server and she didn't bat an eye, just provided excellent service with a smile!
We got here around noon and there was no parking problem, the lot is huge! We walked right in and found 3 tables available, plenty of seating! The wait wasn't bad but with a party of 14 you are in for a wait anyway. The atmosphere made the wait fun! Music is just loud enough to talk but not blare you out. There are lots of screens to watch, and music videos to the music is a nice touch.
I went on the safe route and got buffalo chicken fingers with sweet potatoes fries and it was so good! Portions were good size, food delightful and tasty. Buffalo was just the right heat and flavor! I will be coming back, plenty of things to try out here.
My co-workers had the Sushi, I will update my review when I come back...
Read moreStopped in on Labor Day for an afternoon drink and snack. Being new to Louisville, this was my first time in. The open air seating both back and front was inviting (from previous drive bys). The place was light to moderately busy. Unfortunately, no wait staff for 10-15 minutes. I walked up to the bar (in the back of the restaurant) and she (the bartender) seemed bothered. I asked to taste/sample a beer or two. Once we decided on our beer I walk back up to order beers and sushi rolls. The bartender said I need to place the order with our waiter. I explained we have not seen one. About five minutes later Trustun comes to our table. Explains he was in a conversation with his manager (why he was not around). Funny because I saw him talking to a few co-workers and it looked to be a convo about anything but work. The waiter seemed in a hurry. The sushi was fine as was the beer. Another couple strolled in as we were getting ready to leave and had the exact same experience. They walked out. Your staff is costing you $ and the bartender needs to learn how to work the bar and perhaps smile. Super...
