Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in St. Albans

June 2025: one order of onion rings, nothing else, took 25 minutes. A few days before that i had a large order with 8 items and it took the same time.

Previous review:Undercooked food AGAIN, the tater tots are a soggy undercooked mess. I haven't been in 6 months. How long will it be before I come back again? The employee didn't apologize, ya know why because they do it on purpose when they don't want to hold up the line waiting for the food to finish cooking all the way. UPDATE: I went back for the replacement and it was undercooked. Any other Sonic I've been to Cooks their tots to a crisp NOT THIS ONE and not coming back. I can bake tots at home better than they can fry them here.

January 2022: I had a large order. They didn't forget anything this time. Only problem is they didn't cook the tots long enough which means they took them out of the fryer before the timer went off because they were rushing and so they must not have dropped them in the oil as soon as they should have. The fries were perfect. Everything else was great. Oh and I tried the world's smallest chicken sandwich called the chicken slinger for almost $3. Perfect for a 3...

We went a few nights ago, about an hour before close, and we waited about 3 minutes at the drive thru speaker before anyone even started taking our order. They had the speakers on the outside of the restaurant turned up so loud, they couldn't hear me trying to order and after repeating myself multiple times, they turned the speakers down and told me to pull around to the window. The pavement near the drive thru window has deeper craters than the moon and our car bottomed out driving through them. While we were ordering at the window, there was someone in a white Tahoe parked on the other side of us, not in a parking spot, just out in the parking lot where people would normally be driving. They had their windows down and were smoking marijuana, so we got the smell of that all inside our car while we were trying to order. They took forever to finally get the food to us as well. After sitting at the window for 10-15 minutes, someone came over and said "Are y'all still waiting for food?" We hadn't even been given anything yet. This particular Sonic needs a overhaul. It was mis managed and shut down only after a month or so after opening. It was shut down and left abandoned for a year or two, and had reopened. I went to this sonic three times to give them a fair chance of a decent review. I'm not picky, and I am not hard to please. But when the experience is not good for three visits. Well, here is the result. First chili cheese dogs 2 of them. Both weiners was so tough that I could barely bite them into. And very little cheese.. The Oreo milkshake was so thick that I had to use a spoon, and they only put a scoop in the top, there was no Oreos in the shake itself. The tater tots was not cooked completely and was overly saturated with oil, as was the french fry's. The oil that was used to cook the deep fried items was rancid, you could literally taste the rancidity. Overall bad experience for the most part, the only thing that was decent.
