I was super excited about this place when I finally looked into it. Everything on the menu sounds delicious and they have convenient online ordering. Upon arriving, I found out that the shakes I ordered weren't available, but there was no indication of that online. The employee was very accommodating, giving different options. She refunded the difference in price and made simpler shakes for me. That was totally fine, and the shakes were good.
I was a little uneasy by how many of the workers had their masks down or off entirely, but they were all very nice and helpful. I was given a full sized drink for my kids meal for my inconvenience of the different shakes, and they offered a drink carrier and bag to help me out. Let me be clear... The customer service was top notch. , My surprise came at the food quality. And that's the biggest disappointment, because I can deal with a bit of rudeness if the food is great, but I can't deal with gross tasting food. I'm pretty easy going and not too hard to please. Like I said, the shakes were good. The fries however were very steamy, mushy, limp, like the flavor was fine but the texture was very off putting... Even my 3 year old said something. And the entire time I was eating my burger I was trying to figure out where the moldy taste was coming from. It wasn't the bread, I thought maybe the bacon because it was very stringy and fatty, but it wasn't that. Then I thought maybe the onions... Hopefully not the burger. When I finally pulled off the wilty, chewy lettuce, I realized I was probably that. A decent burger with mold flavor every few bites really quells an appetite.
I was ready to try the entire menu, but now I feel like I'm going to need some time before I'm mentally ready to return. I'm so disappointed. I love supporting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been to Busloop a few times. A memorable visit I had last summer when I stopped in here on my way to the Muny on a Friday evening over the summer. I had planned to grab a burger and fry and take it with me to eat.
When I arrived there weren't many customers there. A couple tables, some already with food. I ordered a basic cheeseburger and fry. I appreciated that the employee gave me his opinions on the sides when I asked (what's better here - sweet potato or regular fry? He said regular hands down).
There were 4 employees working but it was obvious that one of them REALLY knew what to do. He was busting his tail to work and also provide direction to the others. Everyone was actively working....but it still took almost 30 minutes for me to get my order. That's a long time for a burger and fry. They did have a lot of to-go orders, doordash, etc. going out the door.... but WOW.
The food didn't disappoint - it was delicious. The fries were crispy and nicely seasoned and the bun on the burger was steamed perfect. The topping proportions were also great.
I've learned to order in advance online and that seems to be much quicker. Last time I ordered online, drove right there (about 10 mins) and it was ready when I walked in.
I've seen some complaints in reviews about pricing - I got the burger and fry for $10ish. You can also upgrade your burger to a combo with a fry and drink for a lil discount. Overall this is going to be similar pricing to a Five Guys, Smashburger or other premium burger place. The quality is there though and they are locally owned which I support - it's worth the money.
I will definitely be back, hoping that the wait time is a bit lower. I did also see that you can order ahead online and that might be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the pleasure to experience this lil spot on my lunch earlier this week so decided to get some for the whole family. It was such a fabulous meal, I bragged and it was only fair to let my family enjoy the wonderful meal I had. But today was a completely different scene; it was packed with customers waiting for their food, a man was getting a refund, the lady in the kitchen looked frantic, and I soon found out why. This food was horrible, no seasoning in the meat, thank God I got the cowboy burger because the only flavor was in the bbq sauce. But the grilled onions where burnt so it was just a waste of $7. But my family all had different burgers and it was just as horrible all around. What was even worse, I ordered a large fry but it fell on deaf ears from the lil cashier, mind you it was only 2 people working, and I take it that the manager was the frantic woman in the kitchen I noticed earlier. The regular cook must of called off and maybe the fella that was there a few days ago was off. He was a pleasure at the register, and I wish the young lady would have heard my large fry after ordering 4 burgers...Who doesn't do the fry?? She didn't even bother to restate my order and when someone is spending over $30,I would expect more attention to detail. Otherwise, make sure the schedule is ready to handle the Saturday afternoon rush and please teach that manager how to season hamburger meat... That there will cost...
