I was very excited to celebrate our wedding anniversary at the St Charles location. I had been to the Arlington Hts store several years ago and was a member at that time. I certainly enjoyed the wine! My husband and I arrived, we were unable to get handicapped parking, but got a spot a few cars down, so that was fine. The walk from there to the door was probably more than ideal for him (he uses a cane), and when we entered the vestibule an older woman and probably her daughter were sitting there on a bench. On entry there is an expansive tasting bar and gift shop, so another 40 feet to the hostess. The young man behind the candy counter gave us a cheery greeting, but when we got to the hostess she acknowledged our reservation but made no effort at greeting us. When we made the reservation online it specifically asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, and we checked “Anniversary” but she made no use of this information to greet us accordingly and literally just told us to we would be called when our table was ready. Thank goodness there was a random chair pushed to the side, as my husband could not have stood there while waiting. I wandered through the gift shop, checked out the bar, and noted that the tasting area has no stools to sit on if you are just there for an impromptu tasting. We were seated, our waitress was lovely - attentive but not annoying, eager to get the drinks right, and very friendly. It was a Sunday evening, of course the place was packed and noisy, and the ambiance did not match the $40+/entree price tag. The food itself was delicious, we started with the sausage flatbread which was quite tasty, split the pretzel crusted pork chops, so tender! We ended the meal with key lime pie, also excellent, with a graham cracker crust and plenty big for sharing. The waitress had asked if we were celebrating anything, and followed up with a special treat at the end of our meal. Overall excellent food, excellent service, could use some soft surfaces for noise control. Although it is all on one level, not particularly friendly for those with difficulty walking/standing. If we came again it would probably be after 7pm as the crowd/noise level dropped considerably. Recommend for food...
Read moreI wish I could give this zero stars and it's very unfortunate that I have to do that because we have been going to Cooper's for a very long time at the arboretum and we are wine members. This particular day was my birthday and we decided to go to the St. Charles location because it was closer to friends that were going to be joining us and it probably was one of the worst experiences I've experienced in a restaurant. The server was terrible, she was rude and very unaccommodating. We never got our pretzel bread before our meal or ever. She couldn't seem to multitask, when we had asked a question and also wanted to order a drinks at the same time she told us to hold on, one thing at a time she'll be back for our drinks. When a friend of ours was speaking to the server ,she completely ignored her because she was already frustrated with our friend over her own mistake, mind you it was two of our friends first time there. Then also I was not given my truffles for dessert as I always have received every single year that I go for my birthday. We will never be back to that location again, the place was not busy at all, she acted like she hated her life and that she couldn't handle a table of six but she had plenty of time to stand back and talk to other servers. I was just so very disappointed because it was my birthday for one and that's why I didn't make a big deal about it at the moment and two because it was our friends first time ever going. Also everything that a friend had ordered had onions in it which he is deathly allergic, she did not try to accommodate all she did was make sneer remarks, also told them that there was no onions in the potatoes and that was the only thing from their dish that had no onions and when he went to go take a bite, there were scallion onions in there and thank goodness he's a chef and he was able to point them out before eating them and getting deathly sick. Which then caused them not to...
Read moreThis was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Cooper’s Hawk. My boyfriend wanted to take me out for a really nice dinner for my birthday. My actual birthday, which makes this more important. We decided to try the closer location: St. Charles. Big mistake. The service was absolutely terrible. We were completely ignored for a solid fifteen minutes upon sitting down. She never offered us water or bread, which is a standard. We asked for a sample of wine as we were planning on celebrating and she waited another ten minutes to bring back the sample. After sampling our wine we were ready to order both the bottle and the entrees. She took another twenty minutes to come back to get our order. At this time we had been waiting over an hour to even get our food ordered. We finally placed our order, as she was walking away. Our food took another thirty minutes. Which we only received after I’ve been staring down both her and the hostess who have had plenty of time to talk to her. Never did she once check on us or ask us if we needed anything. I still hadn’t gotten the chance to ask for water. Our food was delivered by a different person and we never saw her again. Another half hour goes by, we had clearly been sitting there for a while with our forks down, waiting for a check. Over forty minutes passed from the time we got our food to the time she arrived back at the table. I had to ask for boxes, which she promptly brought and set down. Trying not to lose her again, I asked for the check, that took another ten minutes. She never came back to get the card. Another server had to go get her. We paid, and left. Still annoyed. So be prepared to wait A LONG TIME with service at this location. We will definitely be back to Cooper’s Hawk as the food is always wonderful. But we will absolutely never be back to this location due to the lack of quality...
