I saw that this place is only getting 4 stars, and I feel like I need to correct this. As a patron of Soulard for many years, I feel like a lot of people miss this. Lleywlwyelwelnnsns's next door is popular because of their name and people think the crowd will be bigger than it ever actually is. iTap is popular because you can go show off to your friends that you're a hipster by waiting in line at a bar to order some obscure grapefruit-fused beer from a microbrewery in Belgium that nobody has ever heard of before. But at the end of the day, you're still just sitting around having another one of those sit-and-drink-at-a-table nights. I'm not telling you to stop frequenting your favorite bars with your friends. Different strokes for different folks. But, seriously, do yourself a favor and after you have your hipster desires quenched, grab your friends for a memorable, unfamiliar evening by going to Carson's across the street and singing some karaoke on stage! You can't sing? Cool. It's not like you're opening for Kelly Clarkson. You have stage fright? Nothing calms nerves better than a shot at the bar. Don't know any good songs to sing and you don't have lyrics memorized? Grab a friend to sing with you, the crowd ALWAYS sings and dances with you and will help mask your awfulness, there's a dozen monitors to display the lyrics for you to follow along with. You'll show up to work on Monday and feel like you actually did something new. You can scratch something off your bucket list. You will WANT to go back the next weekend. TL;DR: Saturday night? Go to iTap order a few drinks then persuade friends to go to Carson's for a night that actually isn't...
Read moreAlways passed by this place and thought it literally looks like a hole in the wall. Turns out it really is...but with karaoke. The music/singing can be fun, however I did not enjoy Carsons. First, the bartender asked for our cards to start a tab, but she didn't say there was a minimum. Maybe this is my own fault for not considering if there was a minimum, but we told her it was our first time there...so she could have given us some forewarning. Second, the (womens) bathroom is very poorly taken care of. Third, when we wanted to cash out and leave, not only did we run into the card minimum issue, but the bartender gave me some other lady's card. I was freaking out that she gave mine to someone else as well. HIGH RISK. I don't want someone stealing my card or my card's information. That was the final straw for me. Plus their drinks are way over priced. There are plenty of other places in Soulard that are priced fairly, maintain their place better, and treat you more kindly. Would not return or...
Read moreStaff was very Grinchy, I get it's the holidays probably a busy and stressful time for them. But I called to ask about reservations, which is mentioned in the contract us info on their website. When I called, she had some trouble understanding me since I guess it was loud, but hung up. So I called again, asked about reservations since I have 8 friends coming. She said we don't do that, and as I asked another question she hung up on me. So I called back, another woman answered very rude from the start. Told her I had questions but got hung up on, she said "the music stopped so what do you want?!" In a gruff rude voice, so I asked why are you being rude I don't understand. She told me I was rude, and hung up. It was crazy... hopefully we have a good experience when we go, but will definitely not make plan for friends here again unless we have too. Cheers!! Sending less...
