5 Stars for the food and service! I have a couple issues though.
1st is value. The egg & bacon sandwich is $9. It was def good, but pretty small, about the size of an english muffin. I could have easily eaten 2. In my opinion, $5 or $6 would have been a more reasonable price.
My other issue ... the menu shows the price is $9 ... but it's actually $10.32 (plus tax) after the automatic 15% service charge.
They put out a little sign that says they add this charge in lieu of gratuity to help pay fair wages and benefits ... and that sales tax also applies to this amount. It also says the charge can be removed at your request.
I believe fair wages and benefits should be a normal operating expense that comes out of profits.
Don't put it on ME whether you pay fair wages or not!
Don't make ME feel like a jerk and ask the counter worker to remove this charge!
"Excuse me miss, could you please remove this charge? I don't think you deserve a fair wage".
Can you imagine if all businesses did this?
In my opinion, this is just a sneaky way of increasing prices.
If a business can't ... pay fair wages ... charge a reasonable amount ... and make a profit ... then perhaps the business is not meant to succeed.
Maybe the owner is driving around in a new Porche and hanging out at the country club all day ... while I happily pay this extra charge to increase their profits. Or maybe they're struggling to make ends meet. Who knows.
How about this instead ... put out a sign that says ... "Gratuity is not necessary. We are happy to be a successful small business who pays a fair wage and also donates 10% of all proceeds to local charity. We only ask that you please come again soon!"
If I saw this sign, I'd be happier spending $9 on a little sandwich and coming back more regularly.
Sorry if this makes a jerk. I do wish great success for the business ... but I'm probably not the only one who...
Read moreKnead Bakehouse + Provision is a modern bakery and cafe that puts sourdough in the forefront with everything bread, sandwiches, pastry and breakfast items. A small cozy seating area that gives you the opportunity to enjoy their selection and absorb the atmosphere and great aromas from the kitchen. We had the pleasure of trying the chicken salad sandwich, sausage breakfast sandwich, everything kolache, savory kolache, amaretto donuts, sourdough loaf (which they sliced for us), raspberry braided loaf and a drip coffee. The chicken sandwich was creamy and very flavorful and a great fluffy sourdough bread, which brought the sandwich to a higher level. The sausage breakfast sandwich, the patty was perfectly seasoned, together with a perfectly cooked egg on a soft bun was the best breakfast sandwich we ever got and will say it doesn’t even remind you of a breakfast sandwich, but in a completely different class. The kolache had a great flavor to both of them, but will have preferred them being warm, which will be a request next time or bring home and try. The donut was extremely sweet and had a strong flavor of amaretto, pairing together nicely with a strong drip coffee, which almost seems intentional. It’s great to see a bakery who has put some thought and heart into selecting the right coffee, and good coffee compared what we are used to, which is a neglected item on many bakery menus. The raspberry braided loaf has a great glacé with a crispy texture and notes of the raspberry bringing it home in one complex and flavorful bite.
We tried Knead Bakehouse + Provisions on a Saturday around 1PM and maybe be the reason it did not feel too crowded and we were able to get a table for four, even though every table was full the whole time, there was always one available just in time for the next patrons.
We are definitely coming back to explore more items on...
Read moreIf you want the best cinnamon roll, look no further! I was wary about writing this review, because now you know and I;m afraid they will sell out even faster. Knead makes all their pastries and bread from sourdough. The sourdough takes 3 days to prepare, so when they sell out for the day, they are out.
They have a new menu that features breakfast all day. If you are int he mood for something filling, the Crouque Madam is your best bet. It comes with two huge slices of bread, filled with ham and cheese, topped with creamy bechamel, and an over easy egg. You can request scrambled eggs if runny won't do. It comes with a lightly dressed salad. If you are looking for something smaller, but still filling, try the breakfast sandwich on a fluffy brioche bun. It comes with scrambled egg, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. You should add meat (ham, bacon, sausage) for $2 more. But you must add their seasonal jam for $1 more to make it even more special.
They have fresh pressed juices and free refills on coffee. They bring water to each person and leave a water pitcher at every table. There are napkins and silverware on each table to grab as needed. The self-serve coffee bar has cream in a pitcher and sugar cubes or simple syrup for sweetening. The staff will walk around to refill your drip...
