We're a family that loves seafood and we're blessed to come here. It's our first time dining here and for a celebration. The live lobster and crab options are instant winners. But we decided to divide and conquer the menu, goal was to try as much wild saltwater seafood there was. Our server recommended the shrimp & crawfish fondeaux, which the kids had a lot of with the warm, fresh baguettes and buttercream. We introduced our children to half-shell oysters, which were raw and had different sour sauces. Those are really clean and fresh. While in their suits, they ate those with no mess and no fuss. That's a good sign! My 11 yr old son loves crawfish étouffée. He wanted to compare it to his dad's, which beat his dad's who learned to cook it from home cook friends from Louisiana. Oldest son had pasta mardi gras which has the andouille sausage that even though he requested to make his dish not spicy, because of the sausage, it got him burning still. But younger son said it's fine. It depends on your spicy tolerance. The rest of us got the rainbow trout & shrimp, American red snapper & shrimp, and the wild-caught Mahi Alexander. We do love fresh scallops and we appreciated that it was grilled tenderly. The fishes were all fresh and had their distinct flavors. They didn't taste like mud or like they've sat in the freezer long. Or have been overpowered with spices or wine. Our DD had mac & cheese and a bowl of fruits, fair for someone who doesn't want to have a huge slab of fish for the night anymore. The portions were generously sized for us. The other ingredients weren't sloppily prepared either. The dessert menu is interesting, the creme brulee was calling to me to balance out my palate, but we passed as we were stuffed. The liquor menu is also interesting, as there are great cocktails to pair with the dishes. I had sweet tea instead, which is honestly good. I docked a star off from the atmosphere because it was just dark for us, we have a visually challenged child, it's difficult to dissect for fish bones, most especially for kids. If you're celebrating or just looking for great seafood, we recommend this restaurant, best to reserve a table as there is a crowd. As for us, we would come back for lunch though. As parents of a large family who are seasoned cooks too, we don't have to deal with kids complaining about shucking oysters, or laboring in the kitchen before and after an event when we're all hungry and tired. Just come here, they have meat and salad too. Thank you...
Read moreFirst and Foremost, I love when we're able to visit any Pappas franchise and are able to enjoy a nice meal. Yesterday was quite a different experience. We were married this May and had a few gift cards to use. We picked our "Pappas" gift card and wanted some great seafood for our Sunday dinner. We were seated pretty fast and greeted wonderfully. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. He asked for our drink order and my husband wanted an IPA ( I ordered a sweet tea). The waiter came back and told us there wasn't any more IPA available so my husband opted for a "Old Fashioned ". That was good! Then the food order. Since we didn't want to get super full, we ordered the "Pappadeux platter " to share and added two extra sides. ( Dirty Rice and the whipped potatoes) The complimentary bread arrives and it was hard and not warm but we ate a slice. It was a bit too hard so I asked to get it switched out. The waiter complied and the new bread came, it wasn't great but it was better (still hard). The food arrives about 15 minutes later. The sides came first and the rice was great but the whipped potatoes were below warm. I asked to swap that out, he came back and it was still similar in temp! Platter came and we were hopeful that we were going to hot and fresh fried food but we were disappointed. The fish was warm at best, the shrimp and other items were ok in temperature but not "hot". The only thing that seemed cooked to order was the stuffed crab. That was delicious!! Most of the fries were very cold with some hot. ( like they were mixed together) I didn't want to keep asking to switch out food, so we just ate what we could and packed the rest to go. This was an experience we never had at any Pappadeaux location including this one. It was a bit disheartening to use one of our wedding gifts and we really didn't enjoy the experience. The Stafford location is the closest to our home and never gave us any issues...
Read moreI eat at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen once a week weather to-go or dine in. Stafford or Katy fwy locations. Alone or with co-workers for lunch or dinner. We/ I pay cash or with a card. I was so disappointed on Tues 8/20/24 when we ordered to go, from the Stafford location, Our boss Dr. B. picked it up paid cash and tipped very well. I ordered a chicken chopped salad, my co worker a Seafood salad, the Dr a Greek salad w/ Salmon. I unfortunately discovered a small dead worm. It looks like a garden worm. What was even more disappointing we were given the option to come get another one. At this point no way did I want another salad from Pappadeaux & the others were to grossed out to finish theirs. The Dr’s assistant was the one on the phone , She was placed on hold by the manager. Manager returned & offered a gift card. The food was purchased with cash & again we could not stomach the thought of eating there again. The manager looked up the number that was given on the order & then said we see you don’t eat hear often so we can give you a gift card for any of Christopher & Harris Pappas restaurants . All three of us frequent them often and we don’t give our phone numbers when we do. We also have work & personal phones. Mr. Christoper Pappas & Mr. Harris Pappas I hope you are aware of the level of customer service this manager and the general manager whom gave the ok to give us a $22 gift card for the salad with the worm. The entire order was over $100. People please pay attention to the food Pappadeaux seafood kitchen is serving you. I did not order a worm and I will never eat there again, how hard is it to wash your vegetables and god knows whatever else. We requested to speak with the general manager and was told their number could not be given & they don’t take phone calls. They have our number and no one has reached out. To address our...
