I was I. The area for a soccer game. I searched for Jamaican restaurants near me and picked this place because of the rating, and I saw that the snapper looked very good in the picture.
In between games I went to the restaurant. I wanted snapper they did not have it. I order stew chicken dinner. It was also done.
I asked what did they have and was given some options. So I decided on one of the options, the stew peas which another customer said to me great choice. When the lady was fishing out the stew peas the other staff took that customer. He also wanted to stew peas and was told that it was done. Only gravy was left which he was okay with it, he wanted it anyway. Made me think this food is really good!
So I got the last of it. I enjoyed the meal and the serving was also good. Some places you pay more for less. So I rate accordingly. The staff was nice and interactive with their customers.
If I am in the area again I would definitely visit again. I would suggest in a weekend go early because I went at 4pm and most of the...
Read moreMy first time is the last time. Stopped in to grab a bite to eat before my long drive. I asked the lady for a pint styrofoam cup with curry goat an a beef patty. She explained she normally doesn't serve the goat in a cup and I explain I have long drive I can't eat tray and drive. So she said with big smile I'll make an exception for you. 20 minutes later when I'm at cruising speed on the highway I open up my cup of goat and she covered The whole cup was full of rice and beans with just barely enough curry goat to hide the rice and beans. In my travels I have met some of the nicest kindest most humble people working at Jamaican restaurants throughout New England. I do not believe that one bad apple spoils the bunch but at the same time I'll be damned if the wool is going to be pulled over my eyes. Try to avoid places where the slippery...
Read moreI stopped by Caribbean Bakery & Mini Mart for dinner and went straight for their oxtail with rice & peas and veggies. The plate was huge, and you could smell the seasoning before it even hit the table. The oxtail was flavorful, tender, and coated in a rich sauce that really pulled the dish together. The rice was fluffy, the peas earthy, and everything had that authentic homemade Caribbean taste.
If I had one wish, it would be for the oxtail pieces to be a little meatier — because the flavor had me wanting more. Portion-wise though, they don’t skimp, and everything tasted fresh.
Service was straightforward, the spot has that local charm, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re craving real Caribbean flavor in the area. One heads-up: parking can be tough, especially earlier in the day, so plan...
