Goodwill Stamford Store & Donation Station — Local services in Stamford

First, the store is cramped. Large women section but left a dark small corner to the mens. Second, the staff seem to hate their job, careless about their duties. As I was shopping, I saw a large line formed waiting to purchase the item, but staff were just chatting with each other with things not related to work. Staff are mostly young teenagers, and I'm constantly seeing them mess around and talk about their personal lives in a gossiping manner. Third, is the lack in quality in most clothing. Yes, I saw what seemed like a nice Banana Republic crewneck marked down, but didn't take long to realize that it had several large holes in the middle of the shirt, and random pen color marks along the sleeves. Lastly, prices have gone completely insane. Maybe its just because of the lack of uniqueness in the variety of clothing, but the prices definitely do not reflect the actual price for a "thift" shop ran off donations and selflessness. Honestly, I'm not sure if its a new company policy, but it means that Goodwill across the many I've gone to across the country has lost its positive reputation years ago, and I'm afraid we will never see this type of fun, adventurous, thift-like...

This isn’t the first, second, or even third time I’ve had a poor experience at this Goodwill on Broad Street. This time was the last straw. The store was filled with items clearly marked with price tags. I picked one up, carried it with me the entire time I shopped, only to be told at the register that it was “for display only.” Afterward, I noticed that signs had suddenly been put up on the end caps saying those items weren’t for sale—even though 90% of them still had price tags.

Here’s the issue: if something is truly just a display, don’t put a price tag on it. It’s misleading and frustrating to customers. I explained that I had chosen my item before the signs were put up, but even after speaking with the manager, they refused to sell it. The manager was dismissive and unhelpful, and when I tried contacting corporate, I couldn’t even get through to anyone.

A little disappointing. Not a very large selection, and many things were overpriced. The person behind the counter was dancing and flirting with their coworkers more than working the register, causing a big line to form. They had a second register but wasn't using it, so I stood in line for about 20 minutes. The most frustrating part was I had an item with a price tag of $2. When I finally got to the counter, the employee tried to charge me $20. When I brought this to their attention, they said the price was wrong. I ended up not buying the item.
