Dined here with family for a bday dinner.. maybe I expected a lot based on the high price point and reviews. But honestly I was underwhelmed with the food here. Restaurant was beautiful inside the employees were extremely welcoming with multiple people wishing my stepdad happy birthday.. there were happy birthday confetti on the table plus a card from capital grille on the table. Which was a nice touch. Our server Kristin.. was the nicest most attentive server ever. In fact i dont think ive ever had such caring service at any restaurant. She was amazing. The food not so much. I ordered the green salad with heirloom tomatoes (because I love them) and bib lettuce etc. when the salad arrived it looked like spring mix from the grocery store… some of the lettuce was brown with tomatoes carrots and radishes. The “heirloom” tomatoes were slightly mealy and tasted nothing like heirloom tomatoes. More like plain cherry tomatoes. Dressing was very good but didnt make up for it. I ordered the 10oz filet cooked medium and when it arrived it was well done. I usually would get NY strip but the portions here are huge and no one wanted to split with me. I didnt send it back because im not a jerk. But at $55.00 it should be cooked as requested. We also ordered a loaded baked potato to share and asparagus. The potato while a shareable size was completely over cooked and mush. The sides were thick cut bacon chives and sour cream. Asparagus was also completely overcooked.. limp, stringy mostly brown and soggy. In fact it was the worst asparagus ive ever had. I hate to say this but ive had better perfectly cooked steaks at Texas road house. My parents enjoyed their meal.. but they dont get out much. Anyway the complementary dessert they gave us was another nice touch and amazing…cheesecake with brulee crust on top and berry sauce and chocolate cake. So good. For the price point and everything being overcooked i wont ever go back. Well….maybe for the dessert and glass of...
Read moreWe started our meal with the standard bread and butter, which was anything but standard. The selection of breads was excellent, tasty and warm. I requested sweet, unsalted, butter and was promptly given an ample serving. So many establishments don't have this. Next we had blue point oysters with two different sauces. Very good. We next had lobster bisque, the soup du jour. This was excellent, filled with large pieces of lobster.
We had a three year old and an eight month old with us for dinner. They accommodated both of them. They offered the 3 year old a child size portion of Mac and Cheese. This was so good that the 5 adults all kept picking at it.
We had salad that was in step with the quality of all the other food.
My son and I split a steamed three pound lobster. The kitchen graciously split the crustacean exactly in half, cracked the shells and presented it beautifully. The Lobster was cooked to perfection.
My son ordered the aged porterhouse steak. He asked for it black and blue. It came out perfect! How unusual. The outside was charred and the inside was red and slightly warm. He could not stop complimenting the taste and quality.
My daughter-in-law ordered the filet mignon done medium rare. Again, perfect. The filet cut like butter. And the taste exquisite.
My wife ordered the veal chop. Perfectly cooked and the presentation beautiful. The meat was attached to a sixteen inch bone.
For sides we had roasted brussel sprouts. The best I've ever had. I called over the waiter to ask how they were prepared. He informed the table that they were marinated in miso and soy sauce before the were put under the broiler to cook. Crispy outside succulent inside. We also had potatoes au gratin. Again delicious. And the last side was asparagus, thin stalks and lots of them.
The wait staff was friendly, warm, gracious and efficient. My water glass was never empty.
This was our first visit, but certainly won't...
Read moreI had tofu; this is the third time I had this. Let me tell all the vegetarians WHAT A DELIGHT this is. Once a month I come to have the tofu and it seems a new recipe has come this month. While last month it seemed lightly braised and black pepper blackened - this month it’s cutlets with a love sauce that (I’m not a foodie forgive me) maybe was hoisin or Worcestershire and or a balsamic reduction- whatever this was it was umami tasty lovely yummy and scrumptious. The asparagus was cooked fully yet crisp and a delight to crunch through and was still somewhat soft. I ordered truffle fries and …. I just tore through those I asked for extra crispy and let me tell you with the speed of wind I ripped those fries into the next world- it was so yummy. For an appetizer I shared the field greens butter lettuce salad and that had carrots and super thin radishes and heirloom yellow and colored tomatoes and it was nice I enjoyed eating that. Before that I got some warm pumpernickel or raisin dark brown bread that was so so yummy I asked for a second helping . We KNOW not to eat too much bread but cmon it was delicious I figured ok just this once. My tofu main course did come witv 3 spoons of rice and 4-5 sprigs of asparagus and maybe 6 or more ounces of tofu. VERY delightful for vegetarians. May all beings be happy all deserve compassion. Also to note the manager asked me how it was to check how I liked it and he was very kind. The waiter also was very sweet. High recommend will be back. Was too full for dessert maybe...
