As an Urby resident, I appreciated Canard Cafe for its proximity and generally good coffee and food. However, recently there have been several factors that have negatively impacted my experience.
First, they eliminated the Urby resident discount, as well as food service on multiple days of the week. Given how much I’ve spent at the cafe in the past year, I can’t justify the added expense. Other issues that undermine the value are the self-serve format, with loud beepers that disrupt the dining experience, and inconsistencies between cooks and baristas. Finally, the wait times can be very long. On several occasions I had to switch from dining in to taking orders to go when there isn’t enough time to sit and enjoy.
On the positive side, the staff I have encountered—baristas and cooks—have been courteous, personable, and skilled. Despite these strengths, the overall value proposition has diminished for me, and I’m choosing to reduce or pause visits until the discount is restored and service improves.
I would be glad to see a few changes, including: restoring an Urby resident discount, improving consistency, and reducing wait times. If those are addressed I would...

Canard is located in the Urby building in downtown Stamford. I got lost trying to find the entrance. You can enter through the parking garage, or you can enter through the front of the Urby building. Canard is located on the ground floor of this luxury apartment building.
This cafe is unlike any other place I've been. There are built in nooks and comfy seating. No matter where you sit here, you'll feel like you're the only one in the cafe.
I tried the salad, sandwich and the latte here. They prepare all food fresh and on site. So you'll have to wait a few minutes for your order.

Read moreThe ambiance and set up is so cute The place is beautiful and has plugs for charging BUT We arrived at 950 no line ...they suggested we order online so we do and it is now 1030 and we still don't have the food they gave us one drink every 5 minutes but server every single person who has came in and they all got food immediately We went up to check on food half way thru when there were no customers and they weren't even making our food ... why say order online if you arent going to complete the order..there's only 5 of us so it's not like we ordered alot...so disappointing because we were so excited...
