So to start this review off by saying the staff that was at the restaurant Sunday night were patient, kind, and welcoming. I will be honest my husband & his friend were annoying. Hope that gives you context. The food was delicious & deserves 5 stars if I could give 10 I would. Now let's get to this review. We made reservations last minute, this is a Sunday night in Stamford. There were two gentlemen and a woman running the restaurant, and to say they were saints is not enough. My husband & his friend decided to have a tequila party before we even left for the restaurant. They were loud & obnoxious they also became world renowned food critics in their drunken stupor. The staff remained calm & courteous the whole time. Don't get me wrong when they got to out of hand I would bring it down but yea even for me they were annoying. I think the gentleman with the great hair cut is the owner. This gentleman went above & beyond to make us feel welcome & comfortable. For that you have a patron for life. However, next time we go we will make sure there is no drinking before hand. Now let's get into the food. My husband and his friend had porterhouse for two myself and Anita had the filet mignon. Steaks were made perfectly seasoned just right and amazing. For sides. We ordered mashed potatoes, cream, spinach, and brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts were absolutely perfect. I honestly didn't try the mashed potatoes or cream of spinach, but they looked as amazing as the brussels sprouts tasted. The staff brought us out a special pasta they had made and bacon. Which was very kind of them. The pasta was absolutely perfect and I don't know what type of pasta it is which I wish I would've known. I just forgot with everything going on and the bacon was cooked. Amazingly they give you a steak sauce to use with the bacon and it was so good. Oh, and I forgot our appetizers I had been dying for baked clams. They were absolutely perfect. My husband had a salad, which was amazing, and his friend had the raw clams, which were again amazing. They have a wide variety of desserts, which I really enjoyed as we each got one and tasted everything. And again I will circle back to the amazing hospitality and service that we receive there. I am sure they were not heartbroken to see us go however, I do promise you we will be just better behaved. Thank you to the wonderful staff, and the owner for your kindness and hospitality. It was well noted and...
Read moreAfter having read numerous glowing reviews, my fiancé and I were filled with anticipation for our dinner at The Ridges. However, what was meant to be a delightful evening turned out to be a letdown, leaving us both profoundly disappointed.
From the onset, the service was nothing short of appalling. Upon being seated, we were left unattended for a staggering 10 minutes before even being acknowledged or provided with menus, an oversight attributed to a larger party monopolizing all the menus in the establishment. The inattentiveness of the staff only continued; their preoccupation with their cell phones was evident and took precedence over the needs of the diners. Requests for basics such as water had to be repeated multiple times, and we found ourselves having to ask for our empty plates to be cleared away. The situation escalated to a point where, post-dessert, it took an arduous 10 minutes to flag down a member of the staff for our check, all the while witnessing the staff engage in loud disputes amidst the dining area.
The food, unfortunately, did not redeem the evening. The prices were steep, not justified by the quality or the presentation of the meals served. My steak, requested to be medium-rare, arrived as a dichotomy of well-done and rare portions, rendering half of it inedible due to toughness or undercooking. A side dish we ordered was reminiscent of something one might reluctantly accept from a fast-food establishment, far from the standard expected at a venue such as The Ridges. The dessert, a final attempt at salvaging the meal, proved futile as it was inedible; a sentiment seemingly shared by neighboring diners who also returned their desserts.
The most disheartening aspect of the experience was the complete lack of engagement from the staff. At no point did anyone check in on us, leaving us with no opportunity to voice our concerns or seek rectification for the unsatisfactory elements of our meal.
It is perplexing to reconcile our experience with the high ratings and acclaim that The Ridges has garnered. Based on our visit, it is a mystery how this establishment maintains its reputation and clientele. It is safe to say that we have had significantly better dining experiences at fast-casual restaurants, and unfortunately, we will not be...
Read moreI went to this place by myself about 6:30 PM on a Friday night. When I walked in, there was hardly anyone there, except for a few people at the bar, who seemed like they were having a good time. I was seated at a table, and immediately noticed how elegant the place was. They brought me some homemade potato chips, and my cocktail, while I scanned the menu. I placed my order starting with the Tuna Tartarre, then followed that with a Caesar Salad, and went with the Seafood Pasta as my main dish.
The tuna was really, really delicious. Served with their homemade potato chips (same as the ones put on my table when I sat down). The salty bite is a nice accompaniment to the tuna. Really delicious appetizer. The salad was next and it was quite outstanding: creamy, delicious, crunchy croutons, and very fresh romaine lettuce. At this point I'd like to mention that the service was impeccable. Really attentive and dresssed very nicely. Everything about the meal so far was wonderful.
Next came the main course, the Seafood Pasta. And I have to say, when they set it before me, I was a little under-whelmed. For a $48 price tag, I thought it would be bigger with lots more seafood. My dish had one shrimp, 5 clams, and a few calamari rings and I don't think there was any lobster. If there was lobster, it was such an insignificant amount, that I couldn't detect it. But, overall, the flavor of the dish was good, and I finished every bite.
That being said, I enjoyed the restaurant very much. I wonder why there was no one there? If it's because it's set in a strip mall, perhaps, and people don't think a nice restaurant could exist in a strip mall... Well, then let that go people, this place is really nice. And I can't say enough about how elegant it was with perfect service. I might not order the Seafood Pasta again, but I would not hesitate to go back. Perhaps I'll go with a...
