If I could give them zero stars I would!! I had THREE different problems with THREE different dresses. The first dress I liked but was still unsure about so they told me I could put a deposit on the dress and then come back after I have had time to think about it. They assured me the dress would be safe as I PAID the deposit. When went back and the dress was gone, they had sold the dress I put a deposit on. The second dress I tried on in black and I fell in love with the style. They looked everything up and assured me they could order the dress in pink for me. I said yes and was very pleased. Happy only lasted about five minutes, because as we went to the register to pay they then informed me they actually could not get me the dress in pink (which is the complete opposite of what they said only 5 minutes before). The third dress I tried on and I loved but I wanted to alter the back, all of them assured me it was possible and it would maintain the shape of the dress. I believed them. I finally went in for my fitting about 3 months later and I did not even get to see or speak with a seamstress. However I did get no attention and then they told me that if I made the changes and the alterations that I bought the dress with the intention of, the dress would not look the same and would fit completely different. I was originally told it was be no problem and it would be perfect, now they are saying the opposite. I took my final dress and left, I do NOT trust them to touch my dress. This is one of the worst places, I gave them the benefit of the doubt multiple times and only got repeatedly hurt in the process. If you choose to go, be prepared for pushy people who do not listen to what you want for YOUR OWN occasion, no attention, and an overly crowded fitting room with too many people...
   Read moreI went into the store to buy a dress, they were very helpful in helping me pick out a dress and that’s about it. I left the dress at the store and was coming back in a few days for measuring to fit the dress. Before my appointment, I had called the store and let them know that I no longer wanted the dress and I wanted a refund due to the price of the dress (I never brought the dress home, it was still in the store).
They refused to give me a refund stating that they do not give refunds; which I was NEVER informed of as I was paying or even trying on the dress. After going back-and-forth with them on the phone they then decided that they can only give me $100 a week back toward my dress, which my dress was $500. So they are holding my money and saying that they are going to take five weeks to give me back my money which is absolutely insane and I am getting taxed on. I don’t know any company that charges the prices that they do and will not refund a client their money when they HAVE the dress. — this store is completely overpriced and is not worth the buy, you can find much nicer dresses which are same quality online for nearly half of the price. I would not give them my money or business ever again. I don’t know how three grown women who are owners of this company do not have $500 to refund money for a product that has NEVER left...
   Read moreI went to A Step Ahead for a Mother of the Bride dress after having a wonderful experience purchasing my daughter’s prom dress there years ago. After visiting a few bridal salons and not having much luck finding any plus size dresses in the manufacturer I loved to try on, the ladies at A Step Ahead informed me that the manufacturer I loved offered a loaner program which allowed me to get the dress I was in love with sent to the store in my size for a fee and if it was the one i wanted to purchase then the fee would be applied to my purchase. If I didn’t like it then i would be out the fee and they would send it back. Now since I couldn’t justify spending close to $1000 on a dress I couldn’t try on first this was a perfect solution. Told them I wanted to try, so they requested my favorite dress on Saturday and it came in on Tuesday. It was perfect so I kept it! What I cannot understand is why the other shops I went to never informed me of this program! I had received a coupon from one of the previous salons offering an additional 10 percent off of any Mother of the Bride dresses for the month of December which I passed on.
