So happy to find a great place to satisfy my Taco Tuesday cravings and what's even better is that they now offer menudo and pozole on the weekdays. Most places only offer menudo and pozole on the weekends, so I was pretty ecstatic about not having to wait until the weekends to get my cravings satisfied. So far I've had their street tacos and have been pretty content. The only reason why one star was knocked off was because one time we ordered lengua (tongue) tacos and somehow got tripa (tripe) tacos, which I was not a big fan of. The next time I ordered a menudo, but got a pozole instead. While the pozole was tasty, I was really craving menudo. They also forgot to give us our tortillas....Luckily, our orders have been correct after that, so maybe we just happened to be unlucky twice. Just make sure to check your order before you leave the establishment. Despite the minor mishaps, I still go back because the food is good and the service is prompt. They have an open salsa bar and all the condiments look very fresh.
|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are Knott Ave. & Katella Ave. -Located in the same shopping plaza as Smart and Final, #1 Water 4 U, Lotus Day Spa and more. -Plenty of parking spots, parking is hassle free
|| F O O D || Here are the street tacos that I've tried: -Carne Asada: Super flavorful and the meat is not overcooked.
-Lengua (Tongue): So tender. Typically isn't super flavorful so make sure to add salsa and other condiments to your liking.
-Buche (Stomach): Not rubbery, which means they didn't overcook it. Way more flavorful than I expected.
-Al Pastor: Oh so flavorful and tender. Now if only I had a slice of pineapple to go with it, it'd be even better!
-Tripa (Tripe): Not a big fan of the tripe here. It tastes way too fishy/grassy for my liking.
Here are the soups that I've tried: -Menudo: Decent amount of tripe in the soup. The broth isn't the best that I've had but still satisfied my menudo cravings. So glad their version of menudo does not contain hominy beans, I could do without it.
-Pozole: Tastes much lighter than menudo, perfect for the...
Read moreMy first time here. Came here because it's the new place in town for tacos. I'm always willing to try something new, especially when it's a new taco place. I tried the other day to go there with my wife at lunch time during the week but was told that there was a 25-minute wait to get our food. We didn't have time and thought well if it's that busy it must be good. Came here today on a Saturday evening for tacos, finally. I ordered the al pastor the tripitas and the buche. The al pastor and the tripitas were pretty good. However, there was something not quite right with the buche. I ate it anyways but hope I don't have issues later. My wife ordered the carne asada and the al pastor. She liked them. Besides the buche, the only other issue I had was the teeny tiny little salsa containers that they provide for salsas. They are so small so you have to fill up about a dozen and you spend a lot of time at the salsa bar filling them up. Can you imagine when it's busy and this is all you have and one spoon to pour the salsa? Come on guys, get bigger salsa containers so that people aren't crowding the salsa bar. You get your sauce and you're out. Lastly, NO CARNITAS!!! A taco place, but NO CARNITAS!!! I believe they may be breaking some sort of taqueria law with no carnitas. Anyway, I'll probably be back to try them again...

I ordered through GrubHub. Purchase completed through GrubHub. I only called the "Tacos El Jefe" to revise received order confirm the ingredients of the purchase. Instead of responding to ingredient questions, the cashier / front desk staff questioned my order and they told me the order incorrectly charged. I responded is not my job to update restaurant menu online through GrubHub.
Over the phone, "Tacos El Jefe" agreed at the GrubHub price, an agreement made. Contract completed verbally, in writing, and transactional.
Showing up at the "Tacos El Jefe" did not want to give me the food order that was paid and agreed on multiple of times. The cashier said," I will cancel your order, or you can pay the difference" - cashier. Food order delayed because of this.
I argued a breach of contact in (Offer + Acceptance+ Consideration). Additional time spent for their education in this matter.
Disputed. At the end, they fulfilled their side of the bargain. I reported to GrubHub. GrubHub agrees "Tacos El Jefe" needs to update their menu 1...
