Staff is great but the food merely LOOKS good; it's dry and bland. Healthy food is ALSO supposed to TASTE GREAT; I've experienced delicious healthy many times before... just not here. The super-pretty desserts are from years ago don't even look that way now (not that we cared, but I'd pay more for culinary artistry -- it's a skill). The cupcakes were dry and pretty bland -- the almond one barely had a hint of almond. You get a TON of icing, sure, but it's not very flavorful, so it's a waste. The Pork BBQ sandwich has a lot of meat on it but the meat's dry due to severe lack of sauce so it's dry AND bland. The lemon curd with raspberry tart thingy is delicious (I love lemon curd), and the tart shell is THICK to prevent the curd from soaking through throughout the day, I'm sure, making it difficult to eat, but still. The beet salad is good, but that's hard to muck up; the feta (I believe) adds the flavor. I liked my flat white and feel that's also hard to muck up. The blackberry-sage tea was pretty bland. There's also no sugar-water solution in the "help yourself" station for sweetening cold drinks, so you're stuck with fake sweeteners and other things that will mostly just sink to the bottom, anyway. Adding peanut sauce to things doesn't make it "Thai," so the Thai Wrap was awful; I thought the chicken would be... something other than plain, dry chicken (say, sauteed in Thai spices... but it wasn't) -- even pre-cooked frozen chicken from the store has FLAVOR. The carrot sauce it came with didn't help, either. We drove out of our way to come here and were disappointed by the whole thing. If it was ever good, it's just not anymore. I wonder if the good reviews are from locals trying to either boost their local economy (there's not much around; it's an odd place) or desparate Mon Trail people who are thankful to not be eating fries. Maybe we had them on an off day, or maybe this place is more about the hype of wanting to fit in ("it's healthy, so I'M healthy!" "It's cool and trendy so I'M cool and trendy!") than being fully honest about...
Read moreLove living in Star City! This place is right behind where the Tuscan Spa is. Their lunch is exceptional. For lunch or brunch in the star city area this is probably the #1 place to try Especially the roast beef chimichurri sandwich. They have daily weekly specials and the crêpes are really good. The steak and eggs for brunch are also really good. Be shortly check our special drinks like a months ago they had something called “Peaches & Scream” which was really good. I do like getting it on DoorDash except you can’t get the weekly special on DoorDash and I wish they would change that. So if you want the weekly special, it seems like you have to go in. But if you’re working from home and want to get delivery, you have to get something from the regular menu. Big Bear Burrito right up the street has their special so you could order it online so I’m sure there’s a way they will be able to add this in. They also have a special burgers too, which I haven’t got to try yet, but they look exceptional. And you have to check out their bakery. Every single thing we have got there has been phenomenal. Oh! They also have kombucha and it’s homemade and it’s really good. Really I haven’t had anything I didn’t like here except that the pulled pork is a little dry and that is the only thing I haven’t got a second time. It definitely could use some sauce or some marinating. The only thing I didn’t like is they have breakfast until a certain time and we were literally in line and it was five minutes before they were done serving breakfast and we were told that we couldn’t get breakfast and that was the only reason we went was for breakfast. If I believe correctly, they quit serving breakfast at 11 and we were in line basically at 10:50 and at 10:55 the girl at the front counter said we had to get lunch. So that was the one time we did go...
Read moreLike most of the non chain restaurants in Morgantown, Terra Café gives off a very laid back vibe. We went on a Sunday for breakfast and they were quite busy. The hostess said it was gonna be a 15-20 minute for only two of us which I was a little surprised by. With that said, along side the hostess desk is a counter for ordering drinks. This was a great way to pass the time. We ordered the London fog, which was very good and sipped that as we waited. It only turned out to be a 5-10 minute wait which went by quickly. We were able to look at menus as we waited also. This gets me to the next thing I really love about newer restaurants. Short menus. I believe there were only 8 items, not including sides and drinks, on the menu. This is a great change from the clogged up and confusing dictionaries your neighborhood Applebee's will hand you. Everything sounded amazing and it was genuinely hard to choose what to eat. I went with the breakfast burger and my girlfriend got the French toast with a side of red skinned potatoes. The wait was a little long, but well worth it. The music choice was good, as it is in most of the restaurants in Morgantown. The waitress was very nice and quick. She only bothered us when we needed it and that's rare. When the food did come, I could tell it was good from the smell alone. The presentation was pleasant also. I had fresh fruit on the side of my burger, and it was truly fresh. Then I bit into the burger. The burger itself was cooked medium rare, which I didn't even ask for, but it was a good surprise. The fried egg gushed as I bit into it. When I return it'll be hard to order anything other than the breakfast burger. The bacon was crispy and not burnt. My girlfriend's French toast and potatoes were also delicious. The price was very reasonable for the fresh, homemade meal we...
