A small summary of this evenings dinner at Kome:
*As of now, it's not super fantastic but it's not super awful either, definitely would go back.
*Arrived around 5pm, seemed to be a large variety (at the end of the review are all the dishes that I saw present this evening for dinner)
*Pans were full and the ones that weren't, were filled by the time we got back up (The buffet bars also always had a line of people)
*Food was hot
*Cleanliness was positive, several times during the hour we was there, we watched them wipe the food bars down, there were plenty of clean dishes (in several different areas of the restaurant), floors weren't filthy, and our dirty plates were taken from the table.
*The dishes were labeled
*Large variety of sushi, labeled, and replenished in a timely manner, with as many people as were there.
*Staff was very friendly and accommodating
*Price is fair. $15 for lunch (adults) and $20 (adults) for dinner. Pop is $2.59 (I say fair because fast food meals are close to $10 in a lot of places, they do not have near the selection nor are they all you can eat. As for sit down restaurants, $15 minimum for a lot of meals, so to me, for a buffet, the prices really aren't that bad)
*Main buffet bar, soup, salad and bread bar, dessert bar, sushi bar.
A few (maybe a lot of) thoughts after checking out the much anticipated new buffet, Kome.
This was my first time visiting, and my parents second time. They went for lunch the first time and we went for dinner tonight.
Overall for being a new buffet and handling the amount of people coming through the doors, they have strong potential. With anything new, there are going to be some glitches and hopefully with time, those will be worked out.
As of now, it's not super fantastic but it's not super awful either.
My dad's rating would be a 3.5 - He would recommend the Crab casserole, cheese wontons, General Tso's, the roasted chicken and stick chicken.
His slightly less positive: The ribs had a good taste, but there wasn't a lot of meat on the bone. The roast beef also had a good taste but it was very tough and the butterfly shrimp were saturated with grease.
My Mom's rating would be a 3 - She would recommend the stick chicken, roast beef, buttered potatoes and Jello.
Slightly less positive, a lot of the items seemed to be very salty as compared to the last time they were there, when it seemed like they forgot the salt.
Also Longevity peach roll must be an acquired taste, haha
As the one who always orders chicken tenders and fries no matter where I go, Kome gets a solid 5 from me. Fresh crispy Fries, fresh crispy nuggets, that look like McDonalds nuggeys but were better, and yummy Sweet and sour chicken. I honestly didn't have anything I didn't like.
My only complaint is the ladies restroom could have used some TLC.
As for people wondering about the selection they have, this evening (1/28/23) they had:
*Roast chicken *Salt and pepper shrimp *General tso's *Sesame chicken *Fried frog legs *Veg mai fun *Fried rice *Veg. lo mein *Black pepper chicken *Chicken and broccoli *Veg. spring roll *Crinkle Fries *Fried scallops *Stick chicken *Spring roll *Cheese wonton *Sweet and sour chicken *Sui Mai *Corn nuggets *Wonton soup *Cheese mussels *Cheese sticks *Sweet bread *Chicken nuggets *Baby corn dogs *BBQ squid *BBQ spare rib *Roast beef *Chicken with garlic sauce *Salt and pepper crab *Butterfly shrimp *Steamed long fish *Egg drop soup *BBQ wings *Chicken Noodle soup *Cheddar biscuits *Taro bun *Longevity peach bun *A salad bar with all your typical options *A dessert bar with white cake, orange cake, coconut cake, elephant ear cookies and one other kind of cookie *Jello *Fair selection of fruit

Read moreThe staff is very friendly, host were very welcoming, the people in front of us were complaining where they were sat it was too far away. ( even though they did go to buffet, I found it humorous the things people will complain about!) But the host were much clamer then I would of been and remained postive and welcoming. Big applaud for customers service. The young man and the darker haired girl upfront were amazing. The waitstaff very polite and quick on refills
Several things to pick from. All you can eat sushi. Kitchen is very accommodating if you feel like something isn't fresh or warm they will make it fresh for you. All you have to do is ask! ( I feel like many are quick to complain rather then ask)
They now have a bar you can get drinks from? Crazy! The birthday person also eats free here! ( only day of birthday) They do offer a military discount which I thought was very nice. Any questions we had they were on it to get it done. Great family location, tvs had kid friendly shows.
Several variations of food for everyone if you don't like ashian buffet food, they do carry a few American dishes. Lunch is probably the best time to go in!
One thing to note is if you have 8 or more people there is a service charge. ( Due to party's of 8 or more leaving absolutely no tip which is stupid!!!.) I witnessed a party of 8!!! Get mad because they left a decent tip and still got a service charge which insurers the server at least is to receive something if they left nothing. They cusses and were rude to the staff. If you can't follow the rules and don't like there rules then go to Texas Roadhouse or another restaurant. People need to grow up. Sheshh cry...
Read moreI am all about Chinese buffets. I go to all of them, everywhere I go. I lived on Long Island, NY for 50 years. I have been to at least 50 Chinese buffets in NY. This is easily the best "Asian" buffet South of Manhattan. I've gone there every time I visit WVU, 8 times. There is a very large selection of the top shelf type sushi, beautifully assembled and presented. The type on it's side with the top decorated. One with eel and at least 3 with eel sauce. Very tasty. There's seaweed salad, octopus salad, and 4 or 5 other seafood salads, maybe spicy Korean, I think. There is a great selection of Sashimi as well. The baked Salmon was better than most. There are steamed mussels and clams. Mussels, scallops, and Surimi baked with cheese. A few shrimp dishes, my favorite was the lightly breaded Coconut Shrimp, which seems like the same treatment walnut chicken gets. At dinner they had snow crab legs, crawfish, and a few other additions, hard to keep it straight. There is a very large selection of chicken and beef that looked great and my wife liked a lot, but with all this seafood, I don't touch the chicken and beef. There is a very large salad bar and desert bar that looked great, that I also didn't touch. The worst thing I can say about this buffet is that East in Huntington, NY, and the Epic Buffet in Atlantic City were...
