3.5/5. I don't have any particularly large complaints about my experience, but I just didn't enjoy my food enough to round up to a 4.
We came to Georgia Blue on Saturday for lunch before the Auburn/MSU game. We arrived right when they opened for fear of losing out to the game day crowd. Parking is a little difficult, especially on rainy days like that Saturday (we wound up in a small grassy lot behind the restaurant), but we made our way inside. Luckily, we had no trouble getting a table.
The layout inside is a little confusing but the restaurant itself is clean and comfortable. Our booth felt private and we enjoyed our time hanging out and talking with friends.
2/4 people ordered sangria to drink. It was on the very sweet side, but good. My gal pal ordered a round of fried crawfish tails as our appetizer since she misses crawfish -- it's less popular where she lives.
I tried a small bite. It was new to me; I'd never tried crawfish before as I tend to avoid eating most aquatic critters per my own preference. The tails were cut super small (diced into little chunks, really) and breaded heavily enough that honestly, I mostly just tasted breading. Which was fine for me, lol. The remoulade was good.
I had the Blue's burger, while husband just got an appetizer of loaded fries. My gal pal got chicken tenders and her fiancé got the Rodeo burger. Everything was...just okay, I guess? I didn't think the burger had much flavor at all, but at the same time it didn't taste bad. I dunno. The best part was definitely the fries. I'm a big fan of sidewinder fries and these were pretty good. Dipped in ranch, they were a winner. No one else commented too positively or negatively on any of their meals, so I can only guess they had a similar experience as me: just fine.
Our server was nice and did a good job, though by the end I sort of got the feeling she wanted us to go ahead on and leave rather than have a second round of drinks like we chose to do. That being said, I can sympathize with wanting to turn the table on a busy day.
Georgia Blue has a fairly large, fairly creative menu. While I wasn't blown away this time, I'd consider returning and trying...
Read moreMy family drove 4.5hrs up here in honor of graduation week. This was our first time going to Georgia Blue because we saw good reviews. We got there about 7:20pm and it was a 40min wait. While we waited, we got some drinks at the bars and casually talked. We looked at the menu ahead of time because we knew they closed at 9 and wanted to be courteous. We sat down at 8pm and we told the server we will order everything right away and to put the food in all at once. We ordered 1appetizer and 5 entrees. Our appetizer came out only, however, we kept wondering what is taking so long with our food. We sat right in front of the kitchen doors and the server constant saw us sitting there waiting for our food as she walked past our table x amount of times. She told us 2-3x our food will be out shortly. At 8:45pm, we were wondering why the food was taking so long because we were the last table there basically, so we asked can they make our order to-go since they were closing at 9pm and we didn’t want to make them wait on us while we eat. We know how the food industry works and everyone wants to go home as soon as they can so we just said we will take it to go so they can get out at 9pm on time. Our server said “okay” … a few mins later she came back and said that she forgot to put the order in the whole time …. We ordered at 8pm and she’s just now telling us at 8:45pm that she never put it in. The restaurant closes at 9 so what we’re we supposed to do…. We Google other restuarants but it was a Wednesday night and everywhere also closed at 9pm! After a 4.5hr drive, my family was definitely starving looking forward to a decent meal before graduation the next day. We ended up having to eat at Waffle House because it was the only place open…. It was our first time goimg to Georgia Blue so this left a bad impression! Along with the wait time + the incident, we wasted a lot of time for no where to be open anymore! We stormed...
Read moreGB was an all time favorite restaurant until today. While dining at the Starkville Mississippi location, the quality of food and talk with what was described as the manager (Jackson) was disgusting to say the least. I was very dissatisfied with a crawfish spinach dip that lacked taste and sauce with very skimpy crawfish. After tasting it I asked the server to exchange. I was told the manager would be there to discuss it, the manager ( Jackson) walk up to the table and says I would not be able to exchange because all the crawfish were gone. I explained to him, it was very little to start and that it was this huge chuck of dry clumpy spinach sitting there and I stirred it think more sauce was at the bottom. He grabs only the spinach dip and goes to the back. He then returns and say I am charging you for the crawfish sauce, my initial response was ok. The guest with me just as confused as I am ask the cost of the sauce, he states $5.99 and goes on to say “I went through it very thoroughly and only one crawfish in this dip “, I again explained it to him it wasn’t many in there, I tasted it and told you I wasn’t pleased with it. Then he rants to say so u telling me this how it came out? I watched them make it and it had an ounce of crawfish in it and after I checked it it was only one in there and states I don’t have time to argue and ask did I want to speak to the general manager. I never had a problem paying what was requested however the problem I did have was the attitude and the accusations of trying to get away with crawfish. After this incident I canceled the remaining order as well as my dining party. He was very rude and over the top for no reason. However the server Austin was very apologetic for his response. It sad to say the business that would have been made was canceled because of rude and unprofessional staff like Jackson. Would never...
