High Ground Coffee — Restaurant in Starkville

I have been to High Ground Coffee twice. It’s cute and there’s a lot of seating, but the seating is ALWAYS full. There is a downstairs, but that seems to be too. Students come to study here for hours, so I would recommend taking your order to-go, unless you arrive first thing in the morning when they open. I had the hibiscus green tea, lemonade, pecan sugar bagel, lemon bagel, sausage and cheese bagel, and the plain bagel. The plain bagel was dry and the lemon bagel was ok. The sausage and cheese was my favorite, with the peach sugar coming in a close second. The beverages however.. HORRIBLE!! My partner had a coffee (I don’t drink coffee) and he took 2 sips only before throwing it away. My lemonade didn’t taste like lemonade, which is not surprising because the barista pulled a white jug out the fridge labeled “lemonade” and poured it into a cup. The hibiscus tea was so watered down. I appreciate what High Ground is doing, making a nice, cozy, modern coffee shop environment, but beyond studying and one or two biscuits, I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. I wanted to give it a chance because the look of biscuits reminded me of The Biscuit Shop (from 10years ago in Starkville), that’s why I went with my partner first then my friends (they didn't like their food or beverages either), but I won’t be going back. Good vibes, but not good...

It’s time that new warnings tell people whether a business is homophobic or not. This stuff is hidden everywhere and people deserve to know! If they’re fine with it, it’s their choice. But my guess is that the vast vast majority of queer people would avoid it if they knew exactly where and when to do so. Subpar replacement for 929. they raise the rent on 929 to absurd levels to kick them out the food is not good prices are too high the hot chocolate is watery and the coffee is too sweet and too bitter at the same time would not recommend. the only thing they did right was the game room downstairs but they need a cool retro...
